The sun had just dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow across the beach as the first notes of music from Arden’s playlist filled the air. The waves gently lapped at the shore, creating a soothing backdrop to the area. Tiki torches and string lights were set up around the party area, their flickering and colorful light adding to the atmosphere.

The aroma of North Carolina barbecue filled the air, with a long table set up with all the fixings—pulled pork, coleslaw, hush puppies, and more. For those with different tastes, vegetarian and vegan dishes were also thoughtfully provided. Sweet tea was the main beverage, but for those craving something colder, Squishies were lined up next to the drinks cooler. The centerpiece of it all was a giant cupcake that Graham had brought all the way from Daventry for the occasion.

Games were scattered around the beach: volleyball nets, cornhole, frisbees, and even a few board games for those who preferred to sit back and relax. A bonfire crackled nearby, with cozy spots to sit and chat, perfect for those who wanted to enjoy the evening at a slower pace.

It was set up for a perfect evening, filled with good food, great company, and the kind of fun that comes from being surrounded by people. Yes, it was another surprise party, the kind that shouldn’t be a surprise anymore, really. But that’s the point of parties—to celebrate the people you care about. And tonight, it was all about Arden.

Summer wasn't really sure when exactly this had happened, but, apparently, according to him, Tino had always been an aggressive Connect Four player, and he was leaning into it that evening hard by posting up a couple of the games and promising that, if anyone managed to beat him, they could have their drinks for free tonight.

She agreed to play one game with him, and she was pretty sure it was the most aggressive round of a game pretty much meant for children she had ever played without anything actually exploding. Tino did, in fact, win, and more easily than she would have liked to have admitted, and she might have gone for a rematch if he wasn't being so obnoxiously braggadocios about how swiftly and smartly he'd beaten her.

She almost warned him to chill, that it was just a game, but she could already tell that that could just end up in a lot of Connect Four boards being upended from the bar, and she did not want to deal with that.

Flint had fallen down a bit of a rabbit hole of updated health books after helping Ms. Bennet find something a few weeks ago. The "books that Flint might be all right with parting with, perhaps" shelf was now filled with books that had felt like bullshit (and Flint would judge you if you picked up a Dr. Oz or Dr. Phil book on purpose).

He was in his usual reading chair with Quackery: A Brief History of the Worst Ways to Cure Everything, chuckling occasionally to himself and writing down notes in a leather-bound book. Should he ever find a way to return to his time, he'd have some knowledge to yell share with the ship's doctor.

The door was unlocked, the flag of Trinidad and Tobago was perched on the checkout desk to celebrate their upcoming independence from Great Britain, and the book shop was open!

The club had apparently decided to go classic again, for a change. There was jazzy piano stuff on the sound system, and Octavia found herself gazing more towards the dance floor than the axe range for once.

Maybe it was just the mood of the evening.

When Steph opened the front door this morning, she got hit in the face by an inexplicable stack of flying index cards; she couldn't say for sure, but from the way Little Bot shrilled and went for his trusty dented Cypher rulebook one of the gremlins was most likely the culprit. Anyway, she decided to take it as a suggestion for the theme of the day.

Thus the display of card-based games, mostly involving cute animals or fantastic entities.

[OOC: Look, it's a miracle, I remembered to post. Open! I might even manage a thread. Gasp.]
