The store heater hadn't been giving them any more problems since Vi managed to fix it on Monday, but just to be sure Steph had had a tech come by yesterday to do a full maintenance service on it.
Turned out, much to her horror, there had been several cat toys rattling around in there.
"Really?" she asked Saffron, who was curled up in her cat bed atop all the dusty and slightly fried-looking toys that'd been pulled out of the heater, like a small furry cat-dragon atop her hoard. "I promise you, Saff, nobody is going to take away the mice that are super gross from having been inside the heater for however the hell long."
Saffron ignored her, continuing to look superior. Sure, her plan had been foiled that time, but she'd iron out the wrinkles in future!
Steph sighed indulgently, left her a few dehydrated salmon chunks as tribute, and went off to arrange a new display of dice that all looked far too realistically like candy.
No, for real, read the sign over the case. Please don't eat them.
