After a nice long trip enjoying the sun and sand and surf in the Maldives, really, for real, he totally did so much stuff, ahem, Gladio knew that there'd be a lot of basic administrative stuff and paperwork waiting for him at the gym. Not that the staff didn't always do a great job of handling things, but, well, it was Fandom, and even if there wasn't always something, there was still just the basic business side of things, and it worked well as a way to get back into the swing of things.

Well, kind of.

Okay, if he was honest, he did spend most of the time he was in the office just looking up other great places to potentially vacation that had good surfing. Just for, you know, future reference...

And if he just so happened to find himself inexplicably looking up boards, too, well...

Steve came back from swimming class to a ringing phone. "McGarrett," he answered.

"Commander McGarrett, this is Alicia Brown," replied the voice on the other end of the line. "You left some of your crime scene evidence at my home last week?"

Steve laughed. "Well, I had to get your attention somehow?"

Alicia's answer laugh was much shorter and drier. "Right. Well, as it turns out, I do have some thoughts about your case. When can we meet again? I'm free for dinner."

Steve completely missed the implication of being asked for dinner. "I'll check with my partner and call you back in a few minutes, all right?"

There was a slight pause, then an, "Of course, Commander. Let me know."

Steve hung up, then called Danny. Oh boy, an actual case!

Tiny was leaning into Halloween hard this year. Tonight's costume? He was Eric: black t-shirt, leather pants, blond hair, True Blood, bored expression, and fake teeth.

"Hilarious," Eric drawled. "I can't wait for your Thor costume."

The Devil's Nest was open.

It was one of those days where you just... wanted to sit on the sofa with your feet up and a blanket. Pam postponed the urge, of course, until she had nothing to do in the lab any longer.

But then she was back downstairs, the store open, her feet up on the little coffee table and her ass on the sofa. Sipping tea.

The first day back to work after a vacation was always a difficult transition. So it simply made sense that Liliana was taking it easy today, right? The first step of the transition was being physically present in the store, maybe next week she'd get around to considering maybe putting something away or cleaning something or doing...well, anything even a little bit productive.

Maybe.

Wouldn't want to go too fast and injure something, after all. Hmm. It was possible that she should have stayed in bed this week and tried to make it in next week. You know, just to be safe.

Despite Vi's best efforts at assisting while a kitten, and their absence last week, the store was well and truly decorated for the season, with various selections of spooky dice, scary boardgames and bloodcurdling tabletop games set up around the store for people to check out.

But the truly terrifying thing was Saffron, who had Really and Truly DIED as a result of her terrible humans neglecting her (just ignore the twitching tail) and was stretched out on the counter Utterly DEAD (and not moving at all) as a dire warning.
