Agatha was only slightly happier today. Running into Orlin at the bookstore yesterday did not help, but at least he did not see the book she purchased.
Today, she opened the store and sat back to read the aforementioned book. She was rather glad she did not have anything else to do, Jake's custom order having been completed yesterday. She stared at the cover. This book was supposed to tell her why Orlin acted the way he did. She doubted it would succeed, but giving it a shot was better then not.
Thus she was reading all about the different relationship expectations of men and women at the counter.

Marty helps some bald girl who he has nicknamed "Sinead O'Rebellion" open up the store before settling down behind the counter.

He gets a glaring look from her when Maria DeSalle's cover of "Baby I Love Your Way" comes over the store's speakers, but hey she can just deal with it.

Once Martin left, his parcel under his arm, Giles noticed that was actually nice outside. Rather warm, in fact. He propped a rock in front of the door to hold it open, and went out to sit on a bench on the sidewalk in front of the store. After all, if someone entered the store, he could always follow them in. He took the Augustine with him, primarily for cosmetic purposes.

Sometimes, you just need to sit in the sun and watch the people go by.

Edmund is nowhere to be seen, but the sounds of cursing are emanating from behind the counter for the second day in a row. He has defeated the evil packaging and is now staring at the Quick Start guide with the expression of a man who has just been served his own liver with a side of fava beans.

The Cat Business Office, Thursday

The Baron has successfully managed to escape the outpouring of teenage hormones over Valentines not at all emo that a certain Brit hadn't asked him out to dinner, no not at all and opened up the office again. He had started to only read one in three of the reports that crossed his desk.

Well, in theory. If he just happened to glance over the others . . .

An almost constant stream of messengers was in and out, crows in ones and twos dropping out of the sky, or unfamiliar cats slinking around corners looking furtive.

Wonka's Sweet Shoppe, Thursday

Ivanova opened up the store, continuing shuffling the leftover Valentines candy to one incredibly pink and red corner of the shop. She considered making up sale signs, but decided to leave that up to Wonka. She perched behind the counter with a sigh, hooking her cane on the edge of the counter within reach.

Wonka's is open for business.

The Perk, lunch time

After Speech class and a quick trip to the library, Isabel returned to her room and settled down to read a book that can best be described as brain candy. Midway through chapter five, just as the heroine poured a drink over the head of obnoxious jerk with the secret heart of gold that she would eventually fall in love with, she looked up and saw the clock.

Ten minutes later, slightly out of breath, she opened the door of the Perk and looked around for Peter.

Veronica arrived at Caritas just in time to open. She'd had an insanely busy day considering she only had one class. And she had a lot on her mind, both good and bad. But she plastered on a smile and pushed it aside. There was plenty of time to deal with everything later.

It had been very kind of Alfred to give him the evening off as a compensation for having to work Valentine's Day. Honestly, the wonderful dinner (if not the unseen chaperonage) had been quite enough. He'd taken the opportunity to get a lot of studying done, catch up on his observation journal for Alfred, and get completely, numbingly bored.

So he decided to get some exercise outside before the rain forecast for tomorrow came in.
