The Preserve: Sunday late afternoon/evening

The woods were cool and quiet, and Jack was following random paths, in search of distraction after his rather interesting morning. A flash of colour caught his eye, and he wondered if he'd found it.

As he drew closer, it resolved into a girl, perched on a rock, grinning up at the sky, seemingly oblivious to his presence. She was all long, elegant limbs with a shock of red hair, and her eyes flashed gold as she turned to watch him.

Hello," Jack called, picking his way across the clearing towards her.

Cafe Fina, Monday

Walter opened Cafe Fina on time, and relieved that here, at least, the only truth he was likely to reveal was the chef's secret sauce recipe. Which might get him whacked with a cleaver, but which was better than some things he'd been spouting in the past half a day or so.

He was in for the lunch shift, Wadsworth would take over for dinner.

Town hall - Monday

Entering the office this morning, Braca was faced with a huge pile of complaints. Apparently the troopers had stuck their heads together and had started a write-in-campaign. All letters were the same except for the signature which usually started with CC and ended on a different number.

Dear Mayor Braca,

After Saturday evening's events, we can remain silent no longer. This sucks! We got brought here to fight off bad things and keep people safe. Instead, the people seem to be coping just fine on their own and the students at the school are seeing more action than us.

If things don't change fast, we'll be forced to put down our weapons until something does invade and we can shoot at it. Or if candy is in danger. We must think of the candy.

Further more, we'd like to know who organised the chocolate pudding and why it wasn't Wonka approved. We hope that you will not force us to take further actions.

Caritas, Monday Evening

Upon entering the bar, the first thing Jarod noticed were all the protest signs. "Zombies need sax too," "GOB don't know sax," and "More sax and violins at Caritas" was plastered everywhere.

The bar also smelled strangely like burning hemp and fried chicken.

Caritas was open.
