Renaissance Faire: The Park, All Day Friday

A large wooden castle had been erected in the Park overnight. Brightly coloured banners were flying from the towers and the smell of roasting meats and cakes as well as a cacaphony of music of all sorts rose over the walls.

In order to get into the Faire, you first have to pass through a large tent (sponsored by Turtle and Canary) filed with costumes of every type. A sign on the front of the tent reads

WELCOME TO THE FIRSTE ANNUAL FANDOME RENAISSANCE FAIRE! ENTER THROUGH YE OLDE WARDROBE.

After putting on a costume of some type (if you don't wish to be burninated), you can enter the Magical Realm of Olden Times through the drawbridge. The castle's courtyard is filled with booths selling everything from bellydance costumes to jewelry to olde books to candles to perfumes to silly t-shirts (no one else knows where that guy came from either).

Following your nose past the booths, you will come to a large kitchen selling the finest Giant Turkey Legs as well as other assorted delicacies.

Minstrels, jugglers, and fire-eaters roam the Fairgrounds while a Punch and Judy show plays regularly. In the far back of the castle, an outline of what could be a giant dragon stomps and roars against the chains that are preventing it from achieving burnination.

Today, Yitzhak kicked the delivery man, flipped off the dishwasher, and exchanged monosyllabic epithets with the morning cook all before getting the specials board set to go out.

Yesterday, someone had secretly replaced the mix CD in Yitzhak's CD player with A Flock of Seagulls: The Ultimate Collection.

Let's see if he noticed.

Book Haven, Friday (06/08)

There was a very good reason Aziraphale was a bit late opening up Book Haven this morning, but he wasn't sharing. Suffice it to say that it was a very good reason.

Now, however, the shop was open and he was settled in with a cup of tea and a crossword to tide him over in between customers.

Like Turtle was going to hang around the store when there was a Ren Faire going on that she was sponsoring. Since she was sponsoring, that totally made her Princess. "Hold down the fort, Apu!"

Which he did. And would probably do for all of eternity.

Melody propped the doors of Groovy Tuns wide open and put on some Led Zeppelin, which seemed vaguely Renn Fairey to her because of the album covers.

A few minutes before noon, Donatello was already inside Pizza Planet, looking at the menu to come up with a few suggestions for Jaina. He probably should've thought to ask if she was allergic to anything, but there seemed enough choices that they could find something, hopefully.

AB Investigative Services [Friday, All Morning]

Aiden never had been the kind of person to waste a good day. So what if it wasn't sunny? It was warm, and that was the main thing.

Seeing as work seemed to be slow today, Aiden took herself out to sit on the bench outside her offices with her coffee, and set about flicking through the brochure of spa treatments on offer at Theodorics. Her far more intellectual book on forensic anthropology lay forgotten on the seat beside her.

Friday Afternoon, Noonish, Preserve

Figuring that it was as out-of-the-way place as any, Dawn (and her luggage) were standing in the middle of the clearing, waiting for everyone else (and their portal) to show up.

She might have been a little nervy about being around a portal after the last one had almost sucked her in for good, but it was largely overwhelmed by the idea of seeing her friends and family again.

Tino was wearing a cowboy hat.

GOB didn't know why. He didn't ask. The hat was very distracting, though. GOB couldn't stop staring.

"If you're going to wear that thing you can at least carry around shots on it," GOB said. Tino tipped his hat.

GOB hated him for that.

Once again he'd been woken up by squirrels. They were noisy. Appearantly they liked to sleep behind the innovative instrument that in this church replaced the organ. Gabriel had decided to test his theory that actually playing it would scare them away. Interestingly it proved easy to play and could be made to sound just like an organ. Or a trumpet quartet. Or a grand piano.
