The Perk, Friday Morning

Ino hadn't slept well, waking up long before the sun, and so, after handwavily training for a good while, she made her way to the Perk. Getting a tea, she curled up in a comfortable chair where she could keep an eye on the outside.

Tugging out a notebook and tapping her pen against her cheek absently, Ino glanced at her list of pros and cons for each boy and huffed in exasperation.

This was ridiculous. She sipped her tea moodily.

Joanna was making a list of possible house staff she could fire and reasons for doing it. It was quite an extensive list. Of course she didn't actually know any of their names, so the list read something like: stumpy chamber maid with dark hair, stumpy chamber maid with overly-manly hair, stumpy gardener who may or may not be a man...

The task had her in a surprisingly good mood.

Sora was there, sooooo very there. He paced up and down the isles of the store making sure that everything was perfect.

No reason, just because he thought it needed to be.

He might have also been bored out of his mind, since there were fancy displays of cans and boxes in some places, put together like building blocks.

The chances of Chad being productive today were pretty slim to none; he even seemed distracted when it came to the articles in his music magazines or even using the little light laser pointer on the floor to entertain the kittens. He just needed to stop thinking a little, that was it. After talking to Liir, hearing the detention announcement that morning, Sky asking about him...yeah, Liir had explained and the detention could have just been lottery, but Chad couldn't help wonder if maybe something was going on with Teddy that Teddy was feeling he couldn't share with Chad. Which was...fine, if that's what Teddy wanted, but...

Ugh.

River sat behind the desk in silence, her eyes following anyone who walked past. In front of her on the desk sat a collection of apple sculptures depicting various tormented and possibly dying heads. The next piece of apple art was still in her hands. The fruit bowl was now empty of apples.

Yitzhak had a long, long, kind of crazy blonde wig and a tambourine today. Unfortunately the busboy was out sick and couldn't do the Lindsey Buckingham Looks of Scathing Doom (tm), so Yitzhak was doing a solo act. With occasional guest vocals from the rest of the kitchen staff.

Sky got to work right on time, in spite of another near-sleepless night. Now on top of everything else swimming around in his head, he was worried about Teddy after talking to Chad, and because of the fact that he hadn't seen his little big brother in over a week. Sky really didn't feel like dressing in The Suit today- or ever again- but he also didn't want Mr. Manager to get upset with him (especially because, in the midst of everything, he'd forgotten his promise to pass out flyers during the week), so on the stupid thing was.

He was grumpy and cranky and wasted no time shooing Eddie and his girlfriend off the counter with the broom when he got there, then settled in to read a book and think some more.

He flew in, fixed his hair, turned the sign, set out the usual tea and cookies and even added a small tureen of soup to the table (as he still hadn't gotten the hang of cooking for one or two quite yet). The shop got a quick dusting right after that, which assured him that nothing else much needed to be done for the store, and then he dug through the book bin in the back for something easy to lose oneself in...

The Book Haven was open.

I also be openin' the help lines fer those o' ye completely confused about what ye supposed t' be doin' next Thursday. It be Valentine's Day, a day ye give wenches chocolate in exchange fer sexual-type favors."

Not really, no. "It be me favorite holiday, except fer I never buy anythin'."

That, at least, was true.

He flipped on Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" and cranked it.

Okay! Rikku was here! And opening the shop, totally almost on time! Hey, she'd been up late, okay? And she wasn't that late. Honest.

She hoped Romeo remembered about the Hawaiian shirt. She totally had to see that. She'd have to look into those, they sounded funky.

And the Wellspring Arms and Meditation Center was totally open. A lot.
