Kaylee didn't know exactly what was going on, but she knew enough to realize that maybe all these new people weren't precisely the sort she liked making friends with, necessarily.

So, it was a slightly worried Kaylee who was tucked back behind the counter, clutching her biggest wrench just in case.

Nothing. For as long as he'd held the spell active, Kael'thas had received no answer, no clue as to how to return or even if anyone was searching for him. And after several days of rest and recharging his batteries, so to speak, he needed something to turn his attention towards.

The Magic Box was his unfortunate target, and after arriving yesterday, he set to redecorating with all he could muster - magically and with whatever could be rush-ordered through the supply catalog he'd found in the office. Knowing how the telephone worked turned out to be a great help, though he felt rather pleased as they'd been happy to take his payment in gold. Who didn't like gold, really?

By noon, he had redone most of the interior. The shelving now was a mix of wall fixtures and bizarre floating fixtures that slowly spun in place. There were tables and places to sit, thick rugs on the floor and heavy curtains hung along the walls, giving the store an "interior of a jewelry box" sort of look. Even a ritual circle was now inscribed into the floors in a side room, should it be needed. It felt a little more like home now, and it eased the magical temper tantrum he'd been having.

When he finally opened the front doors again, he took a seat in the front area with a vaguely satisfied and somewhat smug look, as well as a thick magical tome from one of the shelves - maybe now that he felt more comfortable he could find something that would help.

[OOC: Open! And now, Kael will be a little more social. Hopefully.]

Given how dodgy some of the new people looked to Jen, and what she'd heard on last night's broadcast, she didn't have any compunction at freaking all about blowing off both her morning run and work. Sure, nothing had happened (by which 'happened' meant, more specifically, 'suddenly ballooned to gargantuan size') over by the port yet, but that didn't stop her from believing it eventually would. And she figured the current situation upped the odds. And thus, suited up in shiny white futuristic cop uniform and badge and what appeared to be sunglasses (hey, early morning sunrise, don't you know), Jen was roaming the streets of the port district, checking out all those empty warehouses for any signs of trouble.

. . . sometimes she wished there literally were signs of trouble, but then she always followed up that wish with the realization that the kind of trouble they usually got where she was from was more obvious than the most obnoxious neon sign. And then she wondered why average citizens in Silver Hills tended to notice it more than, say, average citizens in Angel Grove or Reefside. Maybe it was something in the water in California.

Times like this, she was really glad that Steelix was safely cryo-contained in maximum security detention in Millennium City, 992 years from now. (Or was it 991 years from now? Or did she step on a leaf somewhere, and that meant he was actually already there only 973 years from now, or did that crunched leaf mean that he wasn't ever, or . . .)

Jen really shouldn't ever be allowed to have three cups of highly sugared coffee and then patrol alone. Ever.

[OOC: Open if you happen to be up and about the port district at this hour, but she'll be gone before the time third period rolls around. And I shouldn't be allowed to have three cups of highly sugared coffee and then write a post like this.]

The town hall was buzzing with excitement. Mostly due to the island positioned just off-shore. Also partly because the mayor had brought a gun to work this morning, and that was the kind of thing one got excitable about.

There was a note tacked onto Cable's office's door. He hadn't noticed it yet.

A robin had a gun. )

"Oh!" The staff member brightened, pulling away from the door. She kinda hoped this didn't mean the end of yet another mayor's tenure, because she was starting to run low on people to muscle into the job. "Awesome! You have no idea about the paperwork we've been getting... invasions, yannow?"

"Yeah, I know," Robin sighed, already setting her gun aside. "Believe me, I know."

[And Robin's here for the day to hold down the fort. :D Played with the awesome [livejournal.com profile] spring_lost, natch, and it's totally fine broadcast-wise, and open for interaction if you have a need for a Robin.]

When Mary arrived at the front desk, she found Gunther hiding underneath it. "What's wrong with you?" she asked. Gunther babbled something about evil twins that didn't make sense before bursting into tears.

That's why Mary spent the rest of her shift working from one of the couches in the lobby.

Welcome to the Arms Hotel!
Today's Specials
Bacon-Cheddar Meatloaf
Mashed Potatoes Au Gratin
Chocolate Chip Cookies

[[OCD-free! ETA: If you're not familiar with Las Vegas, Gunther is the bearded twin of Mayor Wilkins.]]

Ella pouted a little as she took up her station behind the counter. She wanted so much to be exploring the new island, yet here she was. At work. Snapping green beans.

The world's smallest violin was playing an entire symphony written just for her.

Luke's was open, and there was a new Vote Ella, Junior Class Rep poster in the window.

Specials
Roast chicken and gravy
Green beans amondine
Pumpkin cheesecake

[OOC: Open to Fandomites and Nemesites alike, but flying OCDless.]

Jolee sat behind the bar, glaring at the first customer of the night.

"If you don't leave now, I will throw you out," Jolee said. "Go back to your parents, if you haven't eaten them yet or something."

The Menace just drank his chocolate milk. Jolee wasn't sure how he got it in the first place. He also wasn't sure that the little blond freak hadn't slipped some alcohol into it.

"You can't say I didn't warn you," Jolee said. He raised his hand and The Menace was lifted from his seat. He struggled, but there wasn't anything he could do against an invisible force picking him up. All he could do was complain as he was levitated out the door.

Jolee looked at the kid's glass. "Tino, if you want it, it's yours, but I'm not touching it."

[OOC: Open. Dennis will be in and out tonight, but Jolee will be around.]

No one at trooper station had had a lot of sleep during the night. It was safe to assume that would not change either unless something Nemesis island suddenly disappeared over night. Roy didn't think they were going to be that lucky and frankly, he didn't like that tournament. It smelled like a set up, but he trusted Fraser to keep things in order at the school.

If he were honest, he would admit that he was itching to go up there and find out what was happening. He didn't have the time as every man was needed to keep the patrols over the island going. They were stretched too thing and Roy found himself going out several times during the day to patrol the island.

The other half of the day was spent behind the radio, listening to the reports of the troopers on duty.

No, it was safe to assume that no one at the station was going to get much sleep until that island was gone. Which as far as Roy cared, couldn't be soon enough.

((Open, of course.))
