Tony had a problem.

Somehow during the remodeling and moving back in, he'd managed to lose his welder. He knew it hadn't been damaged in the fight and so it had to be around here somewhere. That might explain why he was crawling under one of his work benches on his hands and knees, cursing the name Stane rather colorfully.

Stark Industries was open for business!

If it weren't for the fact that Jamie was working today, Apu would have thought they were simply lost. Since Jamie was working today...

"For the last time, Apu! I didn't do anything with your tofu dogs!" Jamie snapped. "You're just going to have to use regular hot dogs!"

He then sighed as Apu sulked in the corner. At least the squishy machine was working today.

Hoshi thought that Gunther had lost his mind. When she got to work, she found that he had put up decorations throughout the lobby and was wearing that silly lederhosen again. "Guten Tag! Happy Oktoberfest, my little Hoshi," he said, shoving a mug of something in her hand.

"Is this tea?" asked Hoshi, taking a very small sip.

"It is beer!" shouted Gunther. Hoshi promptly spit it out and gagged.

Still pretty cranky over what had happened a week ago when she was here, Katchoo was slouched behind the counter with her Griffin Silver CD collection (it'd be easy to think she never listened to anything else) and her sketchbook -- the fourth one she'd gone through since she'd arrived, actually, not counting the margins of her notebooks. Okay, most of the pages of her notebooks too.

More and more lately, the subject matter of her sketches had drifted toward male figures; she wasn't sure exactly why, and didn't care to probe the question much. But she had to admit, as much as she'd hated being a guy that day last week (for more reasons than one) it certainly gave her an interesting new perspective on her artwork.

[OOC: Still OCD-free. There are no metaphors for OCD-free-ness that I can come up with at the moment that aren't in questionable taste, though. My brain scares me.]

This morning found Eliza glaring distastefully at the empty mailbox that ought, by all rights, to have an "E" in it by now. She'd sent a note - terribly polite - off to the supposedly wonderful suppliers who were meant to have outfitted the place, but it was going on a week without a blind bit of response whatsoever, let alone the return of her wandering letter.

Perhaps she'd have to make an E out of ribbon and wire and bung it up on the sign above the door herself until a proper one arrived? Then again, she'd have to find a ladder for that, and there wasn't one of those lying about either.

There was still a sign in the window, though.

Tyler was in a mood to hit something.

If he'd been honest, he would have admitted it wasn't so much he needed to hit things. It was more than he needed not to think. Things might be quieter in his head these days, but he was learning one voice could be almost as loud as two, and that meant feelings and he didn't want to deal with thoughts or feelings, thanks.

He stretched to warm up, then went after a punching bag. If you asked, he'd say he was only trying to stay in shape.

Peyton was not in a particularly good mood after class today. Anyone coming in would be hearing a lot of loud heavy metal music. She might be convinced to turn it down a little if you sweet-talked her, but until then she's behind the counter sketching angry cartoons.

That morning, Cable had come to the conclusion that there was something horribly wrong with his TiVo. Its suggestions were starting to get a little idiosyncratic. To put it mildly.

He imagined it was just a glitch in the system, though. So he settled down at his desk for the day with a newspaper and his coffee, more than happy to ignore the problem for the time being.

If all else failed, he could always hit it.

Tony had his laptop with him today. He'd intended to look up some of the special effects Arra used to use for Darkest Night and see if there was anything he could use for the play, but his conversation with Andrew the other day stuck in his mind and he decided to see what she had to say about demons.

Demons, Banishing
Calling demons is among the stupider things you can do with your power. I am inclined to allow stupidity to be its own reward; however, it is possible that someday you may need to clean up another’s mess. Begin by drawing six drops of blood from the idiot who called the demon. Do it quickly before the corpse cools.

Real reassuring, that. Good thing Andrew didn't summon demons anymore.

Robin, for the most part, was displeased by the whole colder-weather thingie. She wasn't all that thrilled that it was time to put away her tiny skirts and her floaty pretty shirts.

On the bright side, though, she had discovered something it was finally cold enough to wear again.

Which was why, rather than having a trashy special night as she'd discussed with Brooke last week, Robin was wearing her sexy and terribly classy leather pants.

Okay, maybe they were just sexy. But they were also the Deputy Mayor's sexy leather pants. That counted for something now, right?

Cal was really wondering how someone managed to lose a pair of crutched, but he'd somehow done it. Thankfully, it didn't matter because his bruises were only causing him minor agitation and pain rather than practically crippling him by this point. Still, he was sitting down as much as possible.

The Gig, Thursday

The doors to the smithy were thrown wide open to let out the heat from the forge. Rosie, wearing a heavy leather apron and thick leather gloves and hefting a large hammer, was hard at work.

It was simple work - pieces for tack, replacement bars for the gates - but shaping metal was soothing.

It had taken some time to figure out the forge - she was used to loading forges with coal, not turning a dial and pushing a button - but the heat was completely even, which made this far easier.

Heat and hammer, shape and reheat, heat and hammer again. Sweat ran down her face, soaking her hair, and she wiped her forehead on her sleeve, grinning as she lifted the finished stirrup with a pair of heavy tongs.

The sign was still out the front --

The Gig
