Murdock had handwavily stopped by Abby Irene's earlier that morning and picked up Houston. Abby Irene herself had still been asleep, but Mary was happy to hand the dog over. He did leave a message though, inviting Abby Irene to dinner later that night.

Mary just nodded in her efficent way and went about her business, shooing Murdock along to his.

(Abby Irene and her maid modded with permission. expecting one, but open for all your steak needs. mmmm, steak!)

So. As it turned out she hadn’t found anything in her medical scrolls about curing a cold. Nothing, that is, other than sleep, soup, and make sure to get enough liquids.

That? Was not useful.

Ino opened the shop, sure. Though she was pretty low on the whole, you know, usual cleaning routine and her plants got a lot less fussing over them than normal. Then she curled up in Cable-san’s chair, with a blanket (because she was freezing, seriously), and moped about being sick. Her head hurt, her body was a low-level ache, and she’d discovered this morning that medication tasted really bad no matter what world you were in. Ugh.

Romeo's shoulder felt better. Not good enough for him to risk taking the sling off, but better. He wondered if he should stop by the clinic tomorrow to see if it was healed enough for him to start using his arm again.

For now, though, being gentle to his arm seemed as good an excuse as any to avoid work. He went through the rote tasks of straightening the store and checking the mail, then settled behind the counter with a copy of Cosmo.

He was totally reading it for the articles.

[OOC: Open but OCD-free.]

Johnny wasn't feeling social. He was sitting behind the counter engrossed in motocross weekly. He'd be reading for awhile and checking into the next close-by competition.

Luke's is open.

[OCD-less today.]

Andrew was doodling. He had a few books opened and on the counter, but he wasn't paying attention to them. His mind was elsewhere.

The Magic Box was open!

Eliza apparently hadn't gotten that "E" in, yet.

The store was pretty clearly in its opening stages, though Lola was trying to set up an arrangement of mums that kind of matched her hair.

She'd probably have to learn something about flower arranging at some point. What the heck was she supposed to do with the pin frog spiny plastic things and green foam?

Still, Lola was here and as ready as she'd ever be for her first day of work. Ever.

Her dad would be so proud.

The sign was still nicely placed in the window. Lola hadn't thought about changing the hiring part . . . if someone came in looking for a job, she'd -- well, she had no idea what she'd do, but she'd figure something out.

Now, there behind the counter of the art store was a sight you probably didn't expect to see: Katchoo, hidden behind a newspaper. The financial section, even -- a cranky artist with a decidedly antisocial bent, taking an interest in that?

This particular cranky artist wouldn't put it past Darcy Parker to have a hand in the current market crisis, and was in fact scouring the paper for clues. It was vaguely comforting, in some sense, to think that maybe this would keep Darcy too preoccupied to give much thought to her whereabouts.

Katchoo hoped, anyway.

There was a large signboard in front of Atlas Gym proclaiming the evening's event:

Swim Suit Up and Grab a Noodle!
Wednesdays at the Dive-In
Tonight's Feature - Space Battles IV: Fresh Dreams

Students, townies, and teachers alike could cuddle up on a raft or a noodle in the heated, Olympic-sized pool or the bubbly jacuzzi and watch Duke and Hanno save Princess Leanna from the evil Dark Helmet.

Bored, Amber stood around the cookie aisle and finally opened a package of Oreos and ate a few while she straightened up. Mmm, Oreos. She'd totally pay for them later. Next she picked out a new book to read, and then moved on to the cosmetic aisle. She probably wasn't supposed to be shopping at work, but she was straightening as she went along, so it was cool, right? And Ooooh, look, pretty purple glitter! Amber totally had to use it and it was an accident, really, how it just sort of dumped out and try as she might to get most of it off, she couldn't. She was a purple glittery mess when she parked her butt behind the counter. Apu made an unmistakable sound of disapproval. Amber was too nice to shoot him the bird, so she just opened her book and started reading, blinking every so often because glitter seemed to be stuck to her eyelashes.

Spending her money today wasn't as fun as she thought it was going to be and it would have been nice if Apu mentioned the caked Oreo that was stuck on the corner of her mouth.

It had been several weeks now, and Jeff still wasn't completely happy with his sketches. Hence, his hotel shift found him blasting cartoon theme tunes rather loudly as he sketched, erased, and sketched again.

By the end of the day, Nana would have eaten about five of his sketches, which he felt was a sign his measures were working. The hotel's staff had learned their lesson as well: they avoided Jeff.

A lot.

Hinata supposed, idly, that if she’d wanted to be social and work on building her confidence then she really ought to be at the pool and watching the movie that was supposed to be playing there.

She sank a bit further down into the hot water of the Onsen though and rather thought she’d gotten the better part of the deal. It was quiet (though Hinata would not be entirely adverse to a few people visiting, she thought), it was relaxing, and it reminded her of the good points of home and not the bad.

Maybe tomorrow she’d be more adventurous.

Penelope was just a little bit weary when she came into work tonight. Not even the offered beer from Tino seemed to liven her up. She smiled and accepted, but her heart just wasn't into it.

She'd had a long conversation with her mother and it did its number on her, leaving her exhausted and tired of the scarf. To be a freak or not to be a freak; the question seemed to forever plague her. Everyone could accept her just as Claire seemed to accept her, or they could laugh and recoil in fear, just as every suitor she's ever met, has done. Making friends was easy, but keeping them when they learned the truth was something she wasn't sure she wanted to deal with yet.

Sipping her beer, Penelope watched the band and wondered why they were singing about a highway to hell. That just seemed odd.

Teddy ran into work a little bit late tonight. he almost forgot what day it was until he saw a commercial for that talk show Tyra Banks apparently had.

...he was pretty sure something was wrong when you only remembered what day you worked based on when a silly show was on.

The Gig, Wednesday

Rosie was sitting in front of the barn, visible from Galactica Drive, checking tack. Saddles, bridles, and various bits of leather and metal were spread out around her.

There were pieces in need of repair, and she was going to need to forge a few new metal bits to replace ones that were missing. She strongly suspected the blue jay who lived in the barn roof was responsible for their absence.

He certainly knew about tack and how it went together.

His feathery self was perched in a low branch above her, lecturing her on what she was doing. As annoying as the chattering could be, she was glad of the guidance.

The sign out the front still read:

The Gig

Horses for hire.

Horse-leech (vet) in residence.

Blacksmithing by appointment

[ooc: open, yup. Slow from me, yup. There are still days available on Monday and Wednesday if you have a character who wants to to work with horses & maybe learn to do a bit of smithing or animal-leeching. Gig info is here.]

Alice was in a very loud mood at work today. The music was turned a few levels higher than usual, and Alice was attempting to build a structure out of CD cases.

Empty ones, naturally; one didn't want to smash up the CDs when the tower came crashing down.

Groovy Tunes was open.

Myn hadn't felt like attempting to cook, and Eric had been hungry too. As roommates, it was only natural to offer to go to dinner together and solve the problem for both of them.

"That was really good," Myn commented as they left the restaurant. "Thank you for coming with me, Eric."

It totally hadn't been a date. At all.

(up early for sp purposes, and so totally open to anyone...including any teachers who want to give out detention, after The Event happens. Eric totally modded with permission.)
