The shop was open, the store was clean and everything was in its proper place.

Including Worf who was standing at attention behind the counter.

Daisy wouldn't exactly say that she was suffering from a case of the Mondays or anything, but she did have to admit a little disappointment that it was back to work after the weekend she'd had. Then again, there was always another weekend, and she really did want to see if she could get caught up with what it was that Coop had been poking at not dirty.

And there was always paperwork in the meantime.

[[ I just finished over 100 Thandie bases! WHOO. I am insane! Anyway, open, naturally, although a big fat chunk of unavailability from me during the day, booo ]]

Today, Ender had wired his laptop into the hologram system. He was just trying to get some bead on the kind of alloys you'd need to fly a spaceship. He didn't know them as anything other than a lesson or a blink of light in the simulator, and he was curious to know how they fit together.

It seemed like knowledge that could come in handy later. So he found stuff on the internet, and fiddled with the holograms to give him a better look.

There was one advantage to the relatively early time Cable had to start work: it was always easier to get a good cup of coffee. With one in hand, he strode into his office, and took a perch. Considering radio on Saturday, he was hoping he'd catch sight of his (hopefully not former?) deputy during the day.

Mostly because no matter how hard he tried, the paperwork seemed to have started piling up on his desk. Sigh.

He hoped whoever sold the paper made a good profit on shipping this much to the island.

Joan was making a centerpiece to take home with her for Thanksgiving. It was... not going well and there were bits of wire and flowers scattered all over the counter.

Christmas was coming up! Lacey, being a bit of a junkie for holidays of any kind, was excited about this to the point that the kitchen staff was giving her a wide berth.

Well. A wider berth than usual.

She was in a frenzy of planning, making out shopping lists and ideas for all kinds of overly ambitious, elaborate gift baskets for people back in Dog River and Toronto, not to mention here in Fandom, but in between those fits of creativity she'd managed to find time to hook up a TV and set it on the counter.

Said TV was now tuned to a channel that showed nothing but a silent video loop of a cracking fireplace log. Lacey'd loved that channel ever since she'd been a little kid, and she wasn't about to give it up now. Every few minutes, she'd look up from her lists (yes, she was checking them twice. Three times, even) and stare at the log with a happy, wistful little sigh.

At least, the kitchen guys noted, it kept her quiet. Which was actually why her mother had encouraged her addiction to the stupid thing in the first place.

Teddy was flipping through one of the mangas in the shop. Gotta catch 'em all and all that. It had been so damn long since he played the games, but it was still kinda fun to read.

And it made him really want to find a gameboy to play it again.

Yes, he was a dork, he knew that.

Coyote Medicine

Coyote had done a bit of research on this whole "Thanksgiving" thing and had come to the conclusion that it was a holiday all about the White Man giving the Indians a turkey.

He could get behind this concept.

There. He figured that ought to do it.

Seregil opened the shop and settled in behind the counter with some books. Today he was doing research on this 'Thanksgiving.' He wondered if there was going to be some kind of ritualized hunt for the feast the holiday seemed to demand.

The Book Haven was open.

Sokka squealed with delight when he found in the back room a box of small wooden boomerangs just like the one he'd cut his teeth on. Literally cut his teeth on. Well, not just like -- his favorite chew toy when he was teething had been carved from bone, not wood, but close enough.

He dragged the box out to the front of the store and set up a display, marking them down to 70% off. And then, with childlike glee, he tested the merchandise.

Poor Apu would just have to put up with a few hours of having his head constantly orbited by -- but not actually touched by -- flying wooden pinwheels of death.

Alex opened up the shop on time no, really and made sure things were in their proper place.

Thanksgiving was only a few days away and Alex was still trying to decide if she should stay in Fandom or go home. Hmm.

The Magic Box was open.

Arashi eyed the raw oyster, egg and hot sauce that filled his shotglass dubiously. The zombies were egging him on though as they waited for him to shoot his before they did theirs.

Taking a deep breath, he looked again at the shot glass and grimaced... he could face down an entire army and giant demons, but a shellfish was making him balk.

He paused only a moment more before closing his eyes and trying not to taste too much before he swallowed it.

....It was like eating spicy, fishy snot and took a while for him to make sure it would stay down.

However, seeing the zombies shoot theirs turned the ninja green at the gills.

At least Tino was waiting patiently with the mop and bucket to clean up and open the bar.

The Gig, Monday

Bender had opened the gig, and set the forge going. Not that robots felt the cold, more the warm sense that came from gloat and having something someone else didn't.

The horses had given him a round of dismissive snorts when he'd suggested a game of pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey. Some people had no sense of humour.

Liz was on time for her shift, carefully making sure that everything was set up and that the specials were put in place.
