MHA Lobby, Tuesday

The unending holiday music coming from his radio was going to drive him slowly insane, Loki was sure of that. As it was right now, he could block it out, pretend it was going to end after the next fucking song even when it kept going and going.

Still, he wanted the noise today. It was better than an all too quiet lobby with twinkling lights. He'd end up falling asleep and he'd slept plenty last night. Falling asleep in front of the television before midnight was something he hadn't done in awhile.

So, today, he'd bypassed the chair behind the desk (it was comfortable and he didn't need to be asleep and drooling in his chair should anyone come by) to actually sit on top of the desk today. He was idly paging through a book he'd read way too many times already but it was the only one he owned so it would have to do. He really needed to look into getting some more books.

Loki kept catching himself either humming or fucking swaying with the music from his position on the desk and had to forcibly stop himself. That only lasted a few minutes before he was doing it again. Fucking holidays.

Some of the carols on the radio made her furrow her brow in puzzlement, but they were catchy, Hinata had to admit. And she found that as long as she kept them at a reasonable level, they didn’t get on her nerves.

Yei, for her part, didn’t seem to mind either and gleefully explored the store.

Ino was in a pretty fantastic mood. In fact, her mood was deliberately fantastic after having to deal with people who just didn’t get it yesterday in class.

Geez. Whatever.

She had the radio up and blaring carols that Ino didn’t know all the words to, but that didn’t stop her from trying to sing along. She got better at it as the day went by.

Adam opened up the store, pleased that he was just about finished with his Christmas shopping.

A cup of coffee in hand, Adam decided to check out the latest Ratman comic. He was quickly getting hooked. Who would've guessed that would happen?

It hadn't taken Mary very long to decide that if she heard "Here Comes Santa Claus" one more time, someone would get hurt. She shut off the radio, put a bell out on the front desk if anyone needed her, and retreated to the kitchen.

Lion-o was fascinated by the music coming from the radio. His world didn't celebrate Christmas and he was learning something new every day. "I like this Rudolph guy, but why does Santa use reindeer to pull his sleigh? And how does Santa get down the chimney? And where does the Little Drummer Boy come into the picture?"

The Cafe Fina staff was struggling to keep up with all of his questions.

Coyote had finally noticed that there was a rat hanging out in the store.

So now, he and the rat were playing a game of hide and seek. In that the rat hid, and Coyote turned into a coyote and stalked it.

Fun!

Jack was cold. Jack was cold, and the radio was stuck on those songs, and even the space heater under the counter wasn't warming him, so he decided to wrap himself up on one of the discarded backdrop cloths. Just ignore the fact that he looks like a walking bookshelf at the moment.

It was previews tonight, so while there was a bit of nervousness, there wasn't the electricity of opening night. There was just the theatre with the chairs set up and the set made to resemble the very town they were in and oh my god they were up to previews.

Geoffrey was like a live wire, a wolf on the hunt, the scent of opening night in his noise and out in his hair and down his spine and he loved it, absolutely loved it.

"We're getting started, folks..."

[ocd coming up!]

Max lay on the floor all morning reading the latest edition of Max Impeachment Weekly. It was worth it just for the laughs. Or girlish giggles. There were plenty of both, really. Occasionally he'd stop and add the name of a journalist or Senator to his list of people to have executed for treason. They were his favorites.

The big plate-glass window still had their logo on it, followed by the line

Our Rates Are Better!

And there was still another sign in the window, one that read

Marshall was nowhere to be found today. Maybe he got his hand stuck in the ice machine. Maybe he was in the midst of a fistfight in the back alley. Maybe he was asleep in front of the TV and completely forgot it was Tuesday.

It was probably the last one.

So Ray could take some carols, no prob, but there was a point, and that point had been reached somewhere into his fifth cup of coffee. Once he found the time, he quickly fled from the music and to the gym.

Where it was still blaring Christmas tunes, but at least he could beat up on the punching bag to the rhythm of it. He could admit by now that maybe he was a little too old for proper boxing, but that didn't take the fun out of a good one-two-punch.

Besides, he'd been a great boxer in his time. Really.

Apu was stationed behind the cash register, arms folded, glaring at Jan.

He hadn't meant to break it, really he hadn't. He'd just wanted to see if he could make the keys work with his horn and his nose as well as he had when he'd had human fingers.

The short answer: no.

The long answer: was mostly in Hindi, which was a blessing, because none of it was repeatable in polite company. It wasn't even repeatable in rude, nasty, foul-mouthed company.

Jan was pretending to be meek while he pranced down the aisles to the merry tunes coming from the radio. Even a broken cash register couldn't dampen his spirits.

Apu kept glaring as he waited for the repair man to arrive.

Today's Squishy flavours: Pear, Partridge, and Oops.
