When Ned arrived at work today, he was met by some lively discussion of last night's television drama. Of course, Ned had no idea what they were talking about but he tried to seem interested so they wouldn't start laughing at him as soon as his back was turned for being a nerd.

Amazingly (and thankfully), Ned was actually able to contribute to the conversation and be right due to his attendance at last week's cabin tv show viewing party. That was going to make him smug for the rest of the day.

When Hurley went to open the doors to Groovy Tunes, he was a little surprised to see a guy waiting there for him. A short, portly, heavily bearded fellow to be exact.

The weather was nice enough that Jess had the door to the shop open, partly for his own sake, and partly for the small chance that the smell of books would entice people to come in and want to read or something. He got the tea and treats setup ready, and then settled back to his usual spot at the register.

Robin's new/old friend looked around the store with mixed feelings. "Well, if ya gotta work, I s'pose this ain't too bad a place."

"I like it." Robin told his banjo. "There's almost always a new issue of something out, and it's a pretty location."

"Least there's plenty of pictures in these." Hell, they mostly were pictures.

Wellspring Arms & Meditation Center, Saturday

There were certain things you just couldn't plan for waking up to. Finding out you and the baby you cared for had been turned into miniature ponies was one of them, but that was by now a year in the past. Finding out your mother (or, the template that had served for her to be cloned from, but Jean was a complicated subject at the best of times anyway) was coming to the school many years in advance of your meeting her, if that happened at all-- wasn't out of the ordinary, but still ranked up there.

Finding out your partner's favorite weapons had turned into very affectionate, very deadly women was another one of them.

This was why Nate opened up the store as early as he could this morning, balancing Jan on his knee and shooting the occasional wary glance towards the stairs leading up into the apartment.

Cafe Fina, Saturday 7/11

The Cafe Fina staff was rejoicing at suddenly being human again. They were excited to be making things like they had before, though one of the whisks had accidentally stuck his head in a bowl before remembering it wouldn't do anything but make a mess.

On the downside, it also meant that the Cheese Grater had to go out and buy plates, silverware, and other essential kitchen utensils so that the Cafe could actually function.

Kurogane was going to be annoyed at the sudden cost. Fai was in his usual place in the corner of the Cafe, not seeming to notice that there was anything out of the ordinary.

Turtle & Canary [Saturday]

It was Saturday, which meant it was Kyle's first shift. He arrived on time and warily eyed the SquishyBot and Liz as he got the store ready to open. "Don't think this makes us friends," he told the machines with a mistrustful look. When the SquishyBot went to protest (or hand him a Squishy as a sign of friendship), he pointed emphatically at the bot. "I know how to turn you off and I'm not afraid to do it." Yes he was, but that was beside the point.

Thankfully Apu was around to keep the peace.

When Hoshi got up that morning, she wasn't alone. And it didn't seem polite to leave that person sitting around her alcove all day, so Hoshi brought her to work. That got Gunther's attention.

Hoshi decided then and there that her PADD was awesome. And it wasn't so bad working on a Saturday when she got to eat birthday cake while her PADD helped her get caught up on two month's worth of radio broadcasts.

Caritas; Saturday Evening

After spending the afternoon getting, ah, familiar with his scarf in the Biblical sense, Chuck decided to give Marion the night off and open up Caritas himself. It would give his scarf something to do that didn't involve sex and it would give him a chance to recover from the last few days. His face still hurt like a bitch.

"Chuck, Chuck? Can I play with Tino?"

Chuck placed his glass of scotch over his eye and gave his scarf a smile. "No, scarf. You don't know where that's been."

"Can you and I have sex again then?"

"Later, I promise."
