Irulan set aside the Infernal Machine. She had tea brewed and the new hats on display. It was Parent's Weekend, she remembered the Reverend Mother's visit and chuckled at her nervousness.

Special Parent's Weekend discount on all hats!

George might have been the slightest bit embarrassed that his mother was actually going to know he was part of the student government, but since he'd ended up in charge of getting the brunch set up, he wasn't going to be able to hide it for long.

Not that he had much experience with setting up brunches so after a minor incident where he tried to handle a minor matter of the omelette station in the Lower City manner by drawing a knife, the head cater waiter sent him out to make decorations for the tables while the waiter took care of the rest of the preparations.

A large tent was sent up in the middle of the park holding the brunch buffet line along with several tables.  More tables were outside on the grass giving plenty of seating for all that might come by.  The table centerpieces seemed to be little bowls of water with candles floating in them.  George didn't know either, and really, they'd been a reject from a wedding reception the week before.

A sign out front read:
Welcome Parents, Relatives, and Friends!
All are Invited to Have Brunch With Us

The Gig, Sunday

It was going to be a short shift at the Gig today, if they were to make it to brunch, but then Firekeeper expected that there'd not be a lot of call for horseback riding when most everyone was likely at said brunch.

The horses did still need to be cared for, though, so Firekeeper and Blind Seer had decided that Edlin and Sapphire might as well see where she worked.

Edlin quickly offered his help with the grooming, while Sapphire... offered to supervise.

Even with all the food at the brunch, Gabriel had been holding back because he knew he was going to get ice cream later. And, true to his word, Jonas, with Gabriel in tow, had arrived at Chilly Boulder to meet up with Beka for said ice cream adventure.

Jonas couldn't even keep a grip on Gabe's hand when they went inside, just watching his little brother shoot off towards the counter and bouncing around like a jumping bean. Jonas made sure to hold the door for Beka so she wouldn't get left behind in Gabe's glee.

[jonas is here for his little brother and one other person but the ice cream shop's open, of course!]

Aphrodite was writing a letter.

Dear Cupid,
It's Parents Weekend for the kids at the school and I was introduced to the family members of a young friend of mine. You should have been here. Really.

Really. *crinkle, crinkle* The paper was tossed over her shoulder, and the pan pointed to the next piece of paper.

Dear Cupid,
I met the most interesting people on Friday. They were --
frighteningly familiar.

No. More crinkling. Another paper hit the floor. Another attempt.

Dear Cupid,
I'm sorry you and Psyche couldn't be here this weekend. It's not fair fine that you weren't, but --

And no. *Sigh* One final try.

Dear Cupid,
I miss you.
You should come visit. Bring Psyche and Bliss.
Love,
Your Mom

There. Nice and succinct. No mention of momentary frights or familiar family members.

After folding the letter, she placed it in an envelope and sealed it, placing a kiss on it that left a bright red outline. Then with a zap it was gone, winging its way between the worlds to Cupid.

Moments later the blinds were raised, the sign was turned to 'Open' and Aphrodite was settling behind the counter with the book she'd found hidden away.

"'An Erotic Novel of Maid Marion'? Raven, you naughty girl."

Dite's Decadent Delights is open.

(ooc: Open store, open post, just . . . open.)

It was not her normal day, but once again, Hoshi dragged herself from a warm, cozy bed and got herself to the hotel's front desk. She managed to sustain herself with hot coffee and thoughts of how the extra money she was making would help pay college bills, if she went to college somewhere that cost money.

At least the night audit guy had done the majority of the hard work and prepared everyone's statements last night. All Hoshi had to do was wait until check-out time and take everyone's payments. If only it was that simple...

Welcome to the Arms Hotel!

Cafe Fina, Sunday

One could not be upset that one was missing a brunch for work when one just so happened to have the most awesometastic mentor keeping one company while at work! Nope, no way!

Even the dishes were absolutely enthralled!

"It's so big," a saucer breathed.

"I want to touch it," a butterknife murmured somewhere among the crowd.

But none were brave enough, because, for as nifty as the giant sword was, the guy who was wearing it on his back was far, far too scary to seem approachable to all sane persons.

"And this is where I usually sit customers before the place starts to fill up at lunchtime," Zack chirped, cheerfully oblivious to this fact. "The dishes say it's because it's closest to the kitchen, so the food doesn't have to travel as far, but I like it because I can swing by and talk to people! Oh, and over here? This is where I'm supposed to wait for customers to come in when the place is quiet, but I never do, because there are all of the dishes in the back, and they make for great company!"

... Fina was open, and someone was entirely too excited today over his guest that he might have completely forgotten to update the specials board.

[Just like I'm putting a nix on the OCD today. Mwahahah!]

Geoffrey had waffled on the question a few times before deciding to open the doors today. After all, he wasn't really 'open' on the weekend, but if there really were people who wanted to discuss their kids, what the hell else was he doing that day?

Hence The Boards was open if anyone wished to come by and discuss their child/friend/whatever's time there.

It was a good thing that no one have come to visit him, even without the timeline dangers. Leto didn't want to think about introducing aunt Alia to this place and having her talk to his teachers. Even Stilgar or Harah would have been a little difficult, and he could imagine endless tirades from Harah about wasting water.

He had ordered a coffee and sat down by a window table.

[Open, of course!]

After swinging past the brunch for a plate of bacon, Biff camped out behind the counter and waited for really confused people to come visit him.

Vince was at the Causeway, hauling several large suitcases behind him.

Presumably Howard was helping him with that.

"So, you get your wish," Vince said. "We're going back to London. Best mates forever, eh?"

[ooc: Open for your causeway/say goodbye to Vince needs. Handwave a phone call, if you like.]

His son from a different universe was in town. And Anakin was a hyper-competitive dumbass. Naturally, Anakin had decided that there should be a lightsaber spar.

You know. Just to see how out of shape he'd gotten.

So Anakin and Luke had made their way down to the beach, lightsabers in hand, to have nice, completely healthy combat with weapons that could kill them.

Ah, Skywalkers.

[OOC: Totally open for gawkers. Assume Ben called you if you need an excuse. Because come on, this had to happen.]

Okay, so yesterday hadn't really worked out as planned, but Jak was still intent on getting away from Samos, and getting to do as much fun stuff with Dax as he possibly could. Exploring the island had been the next bullet point on his list, and what would be a better place to start than the Rocky Bits...? In which letting Jak and Daxter near each other is still a bad thing...' )

The tiny green thing let go, fell to the previous layer of rocks with a satisfied noise, and scampered off.

... The unfortunate thing was, with a grunt and a snarl and a twirl in a circle, Dax was now well on his way, as well.

"HUGHPLEEEH!"

... Jak stared down at him. Daxter? Daxter?

... With one quick jump, he was down there, running after the crazy rat.

[[ for the crazy gremlin-bit rat, and whoever might be wandering near the rocky bits... ]]

While the rest of the island was spending time with their family, Kyle was doing some paperwork at the HQ. It was weird how much paperwork this place managed to produce despite never having any cases...

Anyway, in honor of the weekend, he called Jan on his comm while he was doing the paperwork. He was glad that long distance charges didn't matter here, because this was very long distance.

[OOC: I didn't forget, I've just been spotty! No OCD and I'll be afk until about 9:00 Eastern.]

With her father still in town for a bit, and a sort of...treaty was a really strong word, but peaceful agreement reached between them, Robin was in a good mood as she headed into work.

"Settle down, bitch," she told Tino cheerfully, because he kept eyeing her like someone else might follow after. "And go make sure we have plenty of Scotch in stock."

[*BREAKS THE CYCLE OF CHEATING* if things get insane, mod Tino for speed. otherwise I'm around!]

So Eric's weekend was going really well so far. Like, really, really well.

It should come as no surprise, then, that he was whistling as he bustled around the store today, wondering if he might not get a visitor after handwavily mentioning his shift to Marshall the day before.

With the weekend almost over, there was really only one thing left to do.

Playful music followed the Warner Brothers (and the Warner Sister) as they ran through the park, before a musical cue indicated that it was time to suddenly slide to a stop.

"It's that time again," Yakko said, holding up a finger for emphasis.

[OOC: It had to be done. For the sibs, but open afterwards as parks tend to be.]

Lacey had long since given up on the idea that any of her kitchen guys were a hundred percent sane, but still, she didn't expect to have the busboy fling himself at her in tears as soon as he walked through the door this morning.

Upon asking if he'd had some kind of traumatic experience with weekend visitors (not that Lacey was wibbly at all because nobody had come to visit her, she was perfectly fine, thank you) she discovered that this was not, in fact the case. He was all manner of flaily because he hadn't been able to get the MyZoo app on Facebook to work in days, and was Concerned about his breeding pandas.

The sad part was, Lacey completely understood.

Okay, this was starting to seem like yet another one of those bad decisions Kate made so often. Seriously, how did she talk herself into letting this happen?

Still, she was here now, and it was too late to call the whole thing off.

The Gregsons were going to have dinner with the Atreides, and Kate felt like there might be an apocalypse coming. All she could do was hope that Leto had prepped his family well enough for her family not getting suspicious. Or, more to the point, her mother.

[ooc: Kate’s here for the two families, but post can be open for your restaurant needs!]

Priestly tugged at the hem of what he hoped was his least objectionable t-shirt (ice cream doing a cheerleading stunt), and pulled open the door of Ching Tai, ready as he'd ever be to meet his fate.

Fun with disapproving parents )

[ooc: establishy, though Ching Tai is, naturally, open for others coming in for food.]
