The Yule Log channel wasn't showing any more. Ordinarily Lacey would be sad about that, but Not This Year. Oh, no. This year, she'd gone back to Dog River for Christmas -- actually intending to go to Dog River, rather than ending up back in Dog River after a disastrous attempt to fly to Toronto that somehow took her from Saskatchewan to Nova Scotia to British Columbia and back by way of Every. Single. Province. Ever -- and gotten an iPod Touch from Brent and Hank as a Christmas gift.

And they'd preloaded it with the Yule Log app.

So here she was back in Fandom, and it was like having Christmas in her pocket year round, as long as she remembered to keep the battery charged.

It also meant the kitchen staff had a much easier time of it getting away with antics in the kitchen . . . which would explain the miniature marshmallow mountain range taking shape if you peered through the service window. Lacey didn't notice.

Today's Specials
Candied Yam Casserole With Marshmallows
Roast Herbed Turkey with Gravy and Stuffing
Chinese Chicken Salad

Luke's is open, and that Yule Log is virtually crackling away. Yes, still. It'll be virtually warm to go with that marshmallow ski resort back there.

With the holidays now over, Worf had begun the menial task of removing the Christmas decoration from the store. After fifteen minutes of this he had given up and was now re-engineering the Christmas lights so that the bulbs would stay lit if one burned out.

Unfortunately it resulted in a horrible tangle of wires which just made Worf even more grumpy.

So Jak'd promised Tara he wasn't going anywhere right off the bat. Then last night, he'd found his phone. This morning, he'd found a message.

The phone had been stared at. He'd had no idea what to say, so she just got a message that was... a message. He had no clue what she was expecting, but he had a hunch it wasn't what he was.

It was all still too weird. Too... off, or something. As soon as dawn had breached, Jak had left his comfortingly sulphuric room to make his way down to the beach, securing his Morph gun on the way. Leaving it behind already felt strange, like there was something missing at his side while he was in the dorms.

He knelt down, and shoved the butt of his gun into the sand. And looked up at the sky.

Strange.

In most retail stores, the week after Christmas means only one things: Returns. People returning Christmas presents they didn't want, for merchandise they probably don't need.

But in a store like 'Dite's, which had a discrete sign announcing a no-return policy on most items, she really didn't have that problem.

Until now.

"Let me get this straight." She glared at the man in front of her. "You're telling me you had me do an emergency order for 48 wireless remote vibrators because you were making a giant vibrating ornament and now you don't want them because they all work on separate remotes, so you're returning 46 of the 48 vibrators?" Excuse her if her voice was getting a little shrill at the end there. "I got you free shipping and a discount -- two days before Christmas!"

The man smiled and nodded. "Yes." He picked one up. "But it's okay, see, I put them all back in their little plastic boxes."

'Dite just stared at him.

Several minutes and a few zaps later she was sitting behind her counter reading a magazine and calmly drinking a mug of nectar while her former erstwhile customer gathered himself and his pile of 46 vibrators out of the middle of the street.

Aphrodite glanced out the window at him. "Mortals." And she went back to sipping her nectar.

'Dite's Decadent Delights is open. No returns, please.

(ooc: Post open. Expecting two later today, but it's free for anyone who's looking to annoy the goddess.)

Ender was pretty sure he wasn't exactly needed at work right now, but that wasn't going to stop him from actually working. He had data to sort out, some stuff about Jacen from Ben to go through, and new arc reactor schematics to put up.

He worked diligently all day; by the end of the afternoon, he was mailing Val some of his findings.

Tino was not in a good mood when Adrian got in to work today, and Adrian knew exactly why.

"No one was going to believe you were the boss here for long," Adrian pointed out as he made himself a drink.

Tino just glared and walked off to the back room. Ooh, Adrian might be on his own today.
