There was no power when Wade woke up today. What there was, was a shit ton of snow.

Somehow, this translated into building a snow fort at the entrance to the shop in which to lurk behind on the off chance anyone would be out in this weather. Yeah, the odds weren't exactly in Deadpool's favor on that one.

But, on the plus side, there was pleeeenty of things to burn for heat inside.

And the kid was having fun with all the snow.

"Jan, don't jump off the top of the fort, Nate'll have kittens."

Considering he hadn't put any heating into the house he was staying in quiet yet, it'd taken a walk down into town to figure out what was different about the place. He'd been a little surprised, considering that he'd practically come to believe that this place ran on magic or some high tech alien source from the future, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to do what he could to help...
Camping and Survival Supplies Half Off!
Propane tanks, lanterns, firewood, independent grill tops, water purification, etc!
Still Hiring

The store was open and the man himself was curled up with his dog near a... huh. Interesting addition to his store. He wasn't going to complain about the warmth, though.

Mary was not pleased to wake up and find no power this morning. She dressed very warmly before taking the stairs down to the lobby. After what happened during the outage in Vegas, she was staying far away from the elevators.

She was even more unhappy to get to the lobby and find that Gunther had gotten the back-up generator going. "You mean I didn't have to take the stairs after all?" she asked. Gunther grinned at her, but that's when the generator cut out and the lights went off. "Never mind. I stand behind my decision," said Mary, taking a seat behind the desk, where she found a convenient blanket. At least there was light from the fireplace, and the sous chef had brought out an extra coffee maker as well as hot water for tea and hot chocolate.

Castiel being, well, Castiel, didn't notice anything different until the little old lady who always sat in the front came in, all shivery and complaining about the snow and the cold and how nice it was that the church had a fireplace, you know, she hadn't noticed that before, had Castiel?

He hadn't.

He tried to turn on the lights, succeeding only in getting a dim flickering that was less illuminating than torchlight -- he was always better at turning things off than turning them on -- so after a few moments making certain that the place was ventilated, he put up torches.

There. The place was perhaps still a bit chillier than was optimal -- a space as large as the church wasn't the easiest thing to warm -- but it had a certain . . . atmosphere that Castiel decided he rather approved of.

Perhaps he'd keep the torches around for awhile.

[ooc: the church is, as always, open, but I'm about to run off to work, so any interactions with Castiel will be on pause till after about 10 PM eastern time.]

Yes, it was time to vote for his new staff, but it was bloody cold out there today, so Jack would not be setting up the usual table, thanks ever so.

Instead, he had the ballot box next to him in the studio with a grubby sign directing people where to find it. The sign next to it, boasting of hot spiced rum with every vote, was--well, it's Jack Sparrow.

[OOC: Come and vote!]

No power didn't stop Fred Dukes from opening the gym. Or, well, it didn't stop him going into work. Today he'd just send anyone who tried to stop by home. Unless they gave him a good reason they should be allowed in.

Reminded him of his bouncer days.

Good times, good times.

[ooc: The OCD got buried in snow. Open, though]

It was a grumpy Hurley who was at the store today. It didn't have power, but it did have flashlights. And a boombox on battery power that was playing just about every song about California he could find.

You know, some place where this white crap didn't fall from the sky.

Groovy Tunes was open. Against Hurley's better judgment.

[ooc: The OCD is safe and warm in LA. Open!]

Once Jaina had confirmed that Caritas did in fact have power (Seriously, Fandom? Town hall apparently didn't have power but thae bar did? Guess we know where priorities lie.), she set out to work super early with what supplies she could get to bring with her. Once she got there, she started setting up, figuring that it was either going to be very busy with people flocking to where there was electricity, or very quiet with no one wanting to venture into the cold. But if people did show up, Little Miss I Have Worked In Refugee Camps was going to make sure they had anything they might need.

She set Tino to work making blanket forts in the lounge with the explanation of "It's warm, just do it," and got the bar set up mainly for hot chocolate, cider, etc.

1/2 OFF HOT DRINKS
(Don't use alcohol to warm yourself up. Don't you watch Mythbusters?)

Yeah, that was proof Jaina definitely needed a second job.

[So Caritas is open from afternoon on, and I am done with my errands so I am around yay!]
