Angua actually had an entire post here about her day at the station and the topical gifts that she had left in certain lockers (pretty barrettes for Vimes, a cooler of Coors for Gibbs, and both for Ralph), but, through some miracle of the magic that is a Monday morning, it was all completely deleted and became irretrivable by the malicious manuevers of a coffee mug.

This departure of a narrative fourth wall was the result of such a mishap, although this had no bearing on Angua, steadily trying to diminish some of the paperwork that seemed to threaten an explosion of her inbox*. She did, however, feel that there was a slight draft.

_____
* It is a common known fact that paperwork in inboxes are known to breed with particular potency while one is away. So potent, in fact, that it makes rabbits in springtime seem like chaste nuns.

She'd spent all weekend redesigning her CafeWorld cafe (you know, when she wasn't trying to master blueberries in FarmVille), and today Lacey had to quash the impulse to redesign the diner the same way. Because it wouldn't be that easy, she kept trying to tell herself, and take a lot longer than dragging squares of tile across the screen with her mouse.

. . . ooooh, but it was tempting, at least until the staff showed up in the middle of an argument about whether the recent trend of 3-D movies was really necessary. They only ignored her half the time when she jumped in with a comment -- they were taking her more seriously than usual today.

LUKE'S DINER, NOW in 3D!

. . . Lacey thought she was funny. But anyway, the diner was open.

It was still too fucking nice to sit inside and pass the time there so Loki was back outside, sitting beside the pool and getting some sun. Sure, there wasn't a lot of fucking sun and it looked like rain but he didn't give a good goddamn. He wanted to be outside so that's where he was, decked out in sunglasses and a shit eating grin.

It was good to be him, sometimes.

Ender was composing a letter to Graff on his laptop between tests. He was of two minds as to whether he was actually going to send it, but it was being written, which was progress of a kind. Banging away at his keyboard meant that he was free to ignore the cherry tomatoes building up in the back end of the store.

Maybe if Tony Stark ever left, someone should use the compound to start a grocery store.

Under the cover of darkness, in the wee hours of the morning, someone moved into an old abandoned warehouse. Well, they weren't actually old. They were pretty new.

And clean!

There wasn't even the faint smell of chemical waste.

Oh, it was perfect for a mad scientist. Just add a few throw pillows and some nice curtains and this would be the best base of operations ever. Aside from his own mountain. Chicks dug that place.

But for now, it was just a man and his assistant. And their monsters. And a lot of unpacking to do.

The Sleep exhibition was selling well to the tourists, but Sophie was distracted, because first, Tara had contacted her about how the team was doing, and she was a bit... unsettled, by Tara's interactions with Nate. Really. She'd been trying to find them a fifth partner, not a dating service.

And second, she had yet to hear from Geoffrey, after five days.

There was coffee, tea, and lemonade on the sidebar, as well as cookies. Fourth Dimension was open.

Claire had her laptop at work today and she was currently doing searches to try to find where her Nathan and Peter might be.

The whole multiple dimensions thing made that difficult.

She would help anyone who came in and needed it though.

It was a pensive Joan who showed up at work today. She was kind of sad since Liir was away. Of course, her new puppy helped a little on the loneliness front.

She looked through the notes that Vida had left and groaned a little about the reminder of graduation and how she still had no plans.

Miss Vida, I think I like option 2 the best.

The day had finally come for the cows, llama and chickens to return to their farm on the mainland. Although their new barn wasn't completely finished yet, it would still provide enough shelter. In other words, Dani could get them out of her barn without feeling guilty about it.

Don't let the look of glee on Dani's face fool you. She was really going to miss them... if she could get the cows to budge out of their pen. "What is wrong with you?" she growled at one cow as she tugged on its lead rope.

Okay, so the weather wasn't all blue skies and sunshine. Didn't matter much to Lindsay because at least it wasn't freezing and snowing. She could handle blah-spring days, especially if it meant she could get the perk for her doublec caramel macchiato with extra whipped cream. Granted it was more dessert than coffee, but it still had caffeine and that's all that mattered.

She sat by the window watching people walk by and just enjoyed the moment for once.

Claudia came in, checked things over, made sure the beverages were all set up, opened the store, and sat down to spin around in her chair for awhile.

Look, sometimes a teenager just had to act like an idiot, okay?

Alex had half a mind to turn a blind eye toward all the spell books in the shop as she opened up. Having one backfire on you and render it impossible to go to work or class was not fun.

She had a feeling Justin or her dad would have something to say on the subject, which is why she was never ever going to tell them.

Alex decided to clean the shop, in an attempt to stop thinking about what had happened.

Ashley was growing more and more frustrated about being stuck in Fandom. While she appreciated having a place to be that was safe and subsequently kept her mother safe, she was bored without having an outlet for her aggression.

Which would be why she was pounding the hell out of a punching bag at work today. She'd stop if anyone needed her help.

"You can't have that as a daily special."

That was the Pepper Shaker's very stern decision, about ten minutes before Fina opened, today.

"This is an establishment that serves fine cuisine, monsieur."

His resolve was solid, today. It was firm. It would stick.

Today's Specials:

Monkey cookies with every meal!

The Pepper Shaker's resolve didn't count on Zack breaking out the puppyface. Better luck next time, buddy.

The store smelled like peppermint today. Because of the time difference between Kaeleer and Fandom, the portal that was scheduled to bring Karla back to school before class didn't arrive in Kaeleer until well after lunch. Which meant that there had been plenty of time for Lucivar to haul Karla out for another practice with Eyrien sticks before she left.

She would have bitched more if Jaenelle hadn't been out there, too. And if Uncle Saetan hadn't been waiting for them in the breakfast room, a jar of muscle salve for each of them in his hands.

So today Karla wasn't doing much of anything at work. She was too busy counting her bruises and rubbing more salve into aching muscles to actually be helpful. Of course, today was the day she'd agreed to help Leda out--she just hoped she'd be in any fit state to actually be useful after the long walk from town back to the dorms.

Dite's is open; please just don't be surprised if Karla is more interested in figuring out who she can convince to give her a massage than actually helping out any customers.

For the second night in a row, Jaina was here, though today she was behind the bar rather than in front of it. While Tino looked pretty damn happy that she wasn't a certain Moroi, Jaina was looking distracted and not too pleased with things.

Because she had one of those niggling bad feelings again that she couldn't place. And if this turned out to be something, she knew she was going to get blamed for complaining about nothing happening. She knew it.

So Adrian had gone back to Court for the week which meant Dimitri was free from his guardian duties which meant he and Rose seemed to be having something like a date. Or as close to a date as a student and her mentor were allowed to have even if they'd decided to ignore all that stuff.

Which was why she was waiting for him in Fast Eddies, a weird bit of her on edge since it apparently didn't matter if she'd seen him twice that day already. She'd almost never seen him when they weren't wearing training clothes though, and Rose had paid more attention to her appearance than she'd admit. She'd made sure her hair fell perfectly before putting on her best pair of jeans, a clingy and slightly sparkly top that Lissa would have approved of, and Mat's necklace to complete the look. It would've been easier to ask a friend if it worked, but that would've meant explaining why she cared, and...yeah.

And she was rolling a pool cue over the pool table she'd claimed as she waited for Dimitri to join her. Rose had seen people roll pool cues on tables in the movies. It looked cool or something.

It was a whole new day for Jane. It was the day she opened the store for the first time ever, and she was nervous.

All in all, it hadn't been such a hard thing to do, but the general chaos that reigned inside of the store was...unsettling, to put a word to the feeling. She had rapidly started to put everything on it's place, or where she considered it was their place, and prepared herself for whoever that might come interested in something. Or for her assistants, who actually knew more about the whole business than herself; she would learn from them, that was a give, but she had her doubts regarding giving orders while she were inexperienced; it didn't seem right.

Sighing, Jane gave a final look at the place before deciding it was good to go.

Strokes of Genius was open.

Unpacking, while necessary, took a lot longer than planned. Before he knew it, the new occupant of one of Fandom's luxurious warehouses was faced with darkness and the knowledge of a wasted day. But, the busy work was over. Now, it was time to enjoy himself. A thick, choking fog soon covered the island, making it difficult to see when one stepped outside and would prove even more sinister to anyone who tried. Perhaps it was a passing phase of weather? A signal of an impending storm? Perhaps there was a nearby fire, sending it's smoky aftermath to coat the skyline. Or perhaps it was just the island, showing off all the amazing things it could do. It could be any one of those? Or it could be something else entirely.

Under the inky black sky, during the hours when almost everyone would be dreaming their sweet dreams, the man's pets were unleashed. With a maniacal laugh and the requisite steepling of fingers, the man sent the monsters forth and the monsters scattered out over the island with a single purpose. They were looking for someone but really, they were monsters and wouldn't distinguish target from easy dinner if anyone got too close.

So please, come too close. Come investigate the new animals that might be lurking around the corner. Come and see how big their teeth are. They'd be happy to show you!

[NFB! If you psychic types want to react, go for it! This is the post that signals both the start of the hallucinogenic fog and the monkeypony/mini godzillas getting out onto the island. There will be an 'I need an NPC' post going up tomorrow. Remember, at this juncture, the animals are not on an aggressive offensive just yet as they're looking for someone specific but they will fight you if they see you or you stumble upon them. Also remember that the fog will make your character hallucinate their friends/family/loved ones as the actual monsters if they're out in it too long! For more information, please see here!]
