Gas mask, weapons, communications, fog-buddy (Roy, who was just around the corner, scouting, within shouting-over-phone distance as well as Shouting Distance)-- Dinah was ready to run into more herds of monkey-ponies and man-lizards.

She had a bet with herself about which one it would be first.

Fred was mainly hanging out by the front door, today. He wasn't going to let any damn monkey-ponies come in and smash up his place of work. And if he saw any idiots out there getting themselves in danger, well... he'd pop out and save their ass. It'd be good for business. Really. No altruistic feelings at all.

With their master's beloved now safely with him, perhaps the monsters started to get a bit cocky. A little less mysterious in the fog.

Or maybe some people were just damn lucky.

So there were more than a few lurking about the island, almost ready to head on back to their master's lair.

Heading off in a different direction than Elena and some of the others, Ben (and his rebreather) tried to keep buildings behind him as he crept through town, senses alert for anything that didn't seem like it belonged out in the dense fog.

He made his way down toward the beach, thinking that the creatures he'd heard about would probably need some open space to run around and roar and eat things or tapdance or whatever they were up to...

[OOC: For the RNG-ed unlucky sneakers, should they like to put themselves somewhere, too. Also for things that want to eat them.]

There was a bull-size wolf moving through town. The fact that some people might end up thinking he was a monster had occurred to Jacob, but his sense of self preservation was very much skewed. Besides, how many monsters did you know that walked around with a cut off pair of jeans attached to his hind leg by a gas mask. Luckily there was no droid baby, Sedna had been dumped with Morgana which seemed better for everyone involved. Except perhaps Morgana.

It left Jacob free to wander the island, trying to pick up a scent of the wolves that had taken the principal. He couldn't help wondering if the one he'd met on Thursday had anything to do with it. He didn't want to believe it, she'd been... He didn't know what it had been, but he'd been comfortable with her almost as if she'd been one of his pack despite all the differences.

The fog was still thick and while Jake's bulk gave him at least some time before he started hallucinating, he wasn't immune. It forced him to retreat regularly when the vampire scents became more poignant and he could see things moving that weren't really there. He'd find a spot, turn back and breath through the gas mask until he was certain his head was clear enough. Then he'd be back out, looking for real monsters and the wolves. Because somehow that was personal.

[Open for monster encounters and/or running into Jake.]

Jaina wasn't actually planning on coming in to work today. She'd already shown up to work once wearing creature blood in 2010, doing it twice would maybe be overkill. She'd handwavily taken Ben to get his injuries taken care of and there were still monsters to kill, but since she was right here she thought she'd at least make sure Tino wasn't being run ragged or something.

Nope. He was, however, sitting at the bar, wearing a mask.

"I'm pretty sure you're okay in here," she told him. "And nothing can get at you in here even if they did get in."

Tino just shook his head, apparently not taking chances.

[You can mod Tino if you want, but Jaina can be around for a while if you wanna talk to her.]

If you thought that Arthur would be staying indoors and sticking to speeches now that precautions could be taken, you were utterly mistaken. He'd been outside for the better part of the day - not alone, either, as he was taking his own advice - keeping the creatures occupied. Or dead.

Mainly dead.

Unfortunately, he had yet to succeed in capturing one either.

He'd just gone out on his second patrol of the day when he stumbled across the park - and what seemed to be a group of five baby godzillas, conferring. "...Be very, very quiet," he told his companion.

[[ arthur's thread for one and a couple of beasties; open park is open for your unrelated business! ]]

It was stupid to be out in the midst of the fog and apparent monsters. Yeah, whatever, Alex knew that but he also knew that he was out of cigarettes and, after the last couple of days, he really needed a goddamn drink. So, he'd grabbed a scarf (yeah, he owned one) and wrapped it around his face and neck and decided to just freaking go for it.

Hopefully all the apparent monsters would be too busy with the actual fighters and wouldn't notice someone inconspicuous (ha!) like Alex toting a bag full of things he needed back to the dorm. And, well, if the monsters did find him, maybe they wouldn't kill him if he offered them a drink.

It'd been a long week, all right? He was feeling a little self destructive and wanted to work off some of the restless, twitchy energy that he'd stored up since Monday. He was allowed to think a little morbidly.

[it's an open place in town and thus, an open post! yes, he's stupid. it's canon]

The fog was thick and murky. It was never going to go away. This was their new reality: covered in pea-soup fog, drinking it in, doomed to wander and slice at one another.

She'd tracked her prey for hours, this week. Knife in hand. Following through the shadows. Monsters became friends became monsters once more. She had thought it all a clever illusion until one of those monsters attacked her.

She had fought back, furiously, scaring it enough that it fled. She'd nursed her wounds -- only a few scratches from claws -- and realized the truth.

They were all monsters. The fog was showing them, clearly. They had to destroy one another to make it go away.

Since then, she had been on The Hunt. Alice Liddell had bloodstains on her clothing, and only some of it was her own. Her knife was clutched tightly in one hand. And she was singing.

See how eagerly the lobsters and the turtles all advance!
They are waiting on the shingle—will you come and join the dance?
Will you, won't you, will you, won't you, will you join the dance?
Will you, won't you, will you, won't you, won't you join the dance?

She hoped there would be more monsters, to dance the Lobster Quadrille with her.

(expecting one. Open. But with a fair warning that the paranoia has kind of done Very Bad Things to Alice ...)
