Claire was greatly relieved that the fog was gone and there were no more creatures lurking in the shadows when she arrived at work today. She had her droid-baby with her in a bouncy seat she had picked up. Natalie was dressed appropriately for spending the day at work with her mama.

There wasn't much work getting done, obviously. Between the baby and Claire's thoughts about radio saying the creature she had fought last week actually being Elle, she was well and truly distracted.

She'd snap out of it if she got any customers though.

The store had been pretty well cleaned up after Dinah's encounter last week but the stock was still a little sparse.

At least until about halfway through Joan's shift, when the new delivery arrived. She was happy to have something to keep her busy today and double-checked that everything had been received before she started to set up new displays.

Covent Garden Flowers

Vida Boheme, prop.
Fresh flowers from nosegays to bouquets!
Delivery available upon request.

Unlike last week, Ashley was lounging behind the desk today. Also unlike last week? She was not complaining about being bored. Thanks to her super healing, she wasn't sporting any bruises, nor was she in pain, but she was pretty wiped out and decided to skip her own workout for the day.

Instead, she was annoying Tesla via text message. Girl needed a hobby, really.

There were certain advantages to living in a basement apartment: namely, not being able to see such things as giant GODZILLAs rising from the ocean to stomp the island, or giant squid that wished they could quit Fandom. No, aside from a few minutes of wondering why the room seemed to be shaking, she'd been hiding out from the fog since Tuesday and thoroughly absorbed in various projects involving things like sponge-painting her bathroom walls and re-grouting the tile and just maybe the tasteful application of metallic gold paint.

. . . also, lots of focused perusal of coffee-service equipment. No reason.

Well. There were certain advantages to this whole basement apartment thing when you were Lacey, anyway. The staff guys were a little disappointed that they had one less thing to use to poke at her neuroses, though.

Today's Specials
Split Pea Soup (with or without ham)
Peruvian Roasted Chicken with Sweet Onions
Nutella and Banana Crepes

Luke's is open, lizard-free, and open. And not neurotic.

Angua had been about two seconds from calling in today. With the events of last week leading to far too much time as a wolf right on the cusp of a full moon, she was restless, antsy, and felt a constant compulsion to scratch behind her ears with her foot. In addition to that, let's not forget that the town was attacked by small plights all week, and then big plights this weekend, leading to so much paperwork that Angua had actually thought maybe Ralph had rearranged the place until he explained that, no, her desk really was underneath all those files and forms.

And then there were the phones. Good grief, the phones...

There also didn't seem to be enough mouthwash in the world to get that awful taste of those bizarre creatures out of her mouth.

Angua didn't care. When she got out tonight, she was heading to the mainland, into the wilderness, and tracking down something really big and wild. Tracking it down and tearing it to itty-bitty bloody shreds. And possibly staying out there for the rest of the bloody week...

Mina was finishing packing a large, heavy crate in the lobby that day. Please excuse the hammering noise. She'd gathered some... things to ship back to league.

She had to think that they'd probably get that sick Dr. Moreau to examine it. Hopefully it wouldn't give him ideas.

She had her sleeves rolled up on her high-collared white shirt, and was wearing pants today. She was apparently making strides again into breaking her Victorian mold.

She'd gladly help anyone who stopped in or a resident with needs. That was her job, after all.

Monkeyponies this time, Ender typed, I'm not sure if the island is upping its whimsy levels, or I've just become jaded to reporting anything less.

He could almost imagine the snort Val was engaging in on the other side of the internet connection. He smirked wryly.

I know what you're thinking...

The carrot in the upper left drawer was completely expected by now.

Honestly, being a jaguar was probably the best excuse in the world not to come into work today.

However there was a really nice window that had a sunbeam coming through it. And Gunn was taking advantage of it. Granted, he may not get paid for taking a nap but it was worth a shot.

Plus? Sun. Beam. Mmmmm.

Alex opened up the shop, glad that the fog had cleared away and the creatures went with it. If it hadn't, she might have opted out of work for the day.

Alex moved about the store, cleaning and re-arranging things here and there, occasionally finding things that would be useful for future invasions. She was making sure to take note of those, just in case.

The Magic Box is open.

As much as Dani loved her mansion, she was thrilled to see that the fog had lifted, the creepy creatures were gone, and all of the extra farm animals were gone from her stable. She could spend the entire day taking care of her beloved horses.

Though she was going to miss the chickens. She wasn't going to admit that.

The Gig was open!
[identity profile] futuresmuggler.livejournal.com
No fog, no monsters, giant or otherwise... It was, to Mirax, a perfectly normal day.

She was still cleaning up the store today, though. It felt like the right thing to do after an invasion. Pavlov would be proud, if she had any idea who he was.

Jane was getting the hang of it already.

Sketchpad opened on her desk, she had taken her time to open a organize everything her incredibly useful assistants have decided to throw at random places -she was specially suspicious of the blond, grumpy one-; it wasn't a bother to her though, since she liked ordering things. It had been all placed where it belonged -or where she thought it belonged anyway-, and she was enjoying the minutes of silence without customers to try a few sketches. She hadn't drawn a thing so far, but she was getting there. Totally.

Strokes of Genius was open.

Karla was very grumpy this morning. The island, in a fit of whimsy that defied rational thinking, had seen fit to turn her into a stuffed version of those creatures people had been fighting for the entirety of the weekend. There was something very galling about having to get ready for class when one had been getting ready to fight the last time one had limbs.

She continued to fume as she unlocked Dite's shop and marched inside, detailing to herself all the ways she could have been useful this past weekend had she not been plush. What knocked her out of the foul temper was the surprising new addition to the store: a hot tub, smack in the middle of the floor.

Normally, that wouldn't be much of a surprise--'Dite enjoyed making changes with a snap of her fingers--but there were a few other unexpected things around. Like the blue tankini top laying over the edge of the tub. And the men's clothing shed off to one side. And the lingering psychic scents Karla could feel, still trapped in the wood of around the tub. Not that Karla was going to try to examine those. Oh no. She was way too smart for that. She was just going to resolutely turn away and get to her post behind her counter.

Except that turning away from the hot tub meant turning towards the stairs leading down from Dite's office. "Hell's fire, Mother Night, and may the Darkness be merciful!"

[Hot tub link goes to [livejournal.com profile] divinesurfchick's most recent entry, tagged slightly NSFW. Other two links are fine. OCD on its way up!]

Today was one of those days at Café Fina.

One of those days where Zack's merry prancing meant that the dishes were going to inch away sloooowly and leave him to it. Over there. With some cake, or something. So that even if his hyperactivity was absolutely terrifying for a while, the peace and quiet after the inevitable sugar crash would be a thing of beauty.

Today's Specials:
Celebrate Our Victory With a Complimentary Slice of Sunshine Cake!
(With Raspberry Filling!)

They'd given Zack a squid-shaped cake all of his very own, too. Three and a half tentacles were now completely obliterated, and Zack was making motor sounds and playing with the toy boat between customers.

Oz was surprised upon arriving at work, to find a passed out Elf snoozing on the stoop in front of the door.

He let her in, made her some coffee and then set about setting up for the day.

Holiday Grove is open.

Adrian was totally back today.

Except he was still hung over from last night (this morning?) so upon walking in and getting himself a drink, he went to the lounge to hang out.

Tino should have expected that, really.
