Medusalith still didn't really get the whole 'art for money' thing she'd gotten herself into, but she had to say that being surrounded by beautiful things all day was a far, far better prospect than tracking down Lockjaw and giving him the bath she was quite sure he desperately needed after that thing with the fish on Friday. She'd wisely stayed in, as she had no desire to try to scrub fish out of her hair. Lockjaw, on the other hand, didn't know the meaning of 'wise.'

He probably wasn't even on the island, which would complicate matters immensely. Perhaps she could get away with pretending she'd thought the whole thing was Blackagar's problem. Probably not, though.

So, really, on the whole she was absolutely thrilled to be at work today, and the gallery was open.

It was not, perhaps, the most adult thing that she could be doing, all things considered.

But Hinata had been feeling a bit stir-crazy after keeping a low profile for a bit and when the day had dawned bright and clear and Fandom Weirdness free as far as a glance out the window could tell, she had scooped up Yei (who hadn't put up much of a protest, all things considered) and headed out.

Which brought her to the beach and found Hinata sitting in the sand, well above the water line, with her ankles crossed as she blew bubbles into the air.

And laughed softly as Yei tried to play with them only to be quite put-out that they broke on contact.

[This post was totally written around the icon, yes. Open as a beach is, la!]

Was it really a surprise that, once the theatre had been cleaned and some small changes made to the décor—Genesis had replaced the seating to be more comfortable, updated the dressing rooms so that they were more professional grade and rather less high school, and had the lighting overhauled so that it would be easier to work with—that he, upon deciding that yes, he liked the play he'd found for his first production, got a few NPC other people to go around town and hang up his posters?

For his part, Genesis considered the fact that he'd put up the one outside The Boards to be sufficient work on his part for this particular facet of running a theatre. Then, as the day was rather lovely, he settled himself down on the steps with his favorite book.

Infinite in mystery is the gift of the goddess…

Casting for Snow White*
Will occur on 09/22 and 09/26
Cast and crew positions available
Food & drink will be supplied

He would, of course, deign to answer any questions someone might have should they come by.

[*Please read the OOC post here concerning this play, thank you! Open post, with some (hopefully mild) work-induced SP likely, if you want to talk to Genesis]

Quinn had been worried there'd be some piranha damage to the hotel, but everything seemed normal when she got to work.

She was pleased by that. The way she saw it, cleaning up mutant fish guts wasn't in her job description -- but she was glad not to have to try to explain that to Mary. She settled down behind the counter with some American History homework, ready to assist any hotel guests or anyone else who felt like bothering her.

A week in, Lacey was pleased to note that the hydroponic wall planters were still there, and thriving; she spent possibly far too long fussing over the plants (and talking to them, yes, she took the idea of talking to plants more to heart in Fandom than she would anywhere else) and making sure they had enough water and nutrients before she so much as started cleaning up the diner in preparation to open for the day.

The salad bar area -- relocated near the wall planters -- had pride of place today, stacks of plates arranged tastefully next to silverware and brightly-colored dishes of tomatoes, beets, yellow peppers, other pretty vegetables, and all the dressings and toppings she could think of. Dangling from fishing line over the salad bar was a neatly hand-lettered sign that read "NEW SPECIAL" -- Pick-Your-Own-Salad Bar!

Look, just because Dog River had given her crap over improperly using quotation marks for emphasis, it didn't mean she was above trying it again in Fandom. It had been long enough. (About that definition of insanity, Lacey . . .)

The specials board was up as usual, though.

Most of Monday morning was spent cleaning up the wreckage left over from a few stray zombie piranhas that had wrestled their way into the building. Ender went about it diligently, putting computers back up and reattaching wires-- then headed up into the apartment to sort a few things out there.

By noon, he was back behind the desk, thinking about the extra space upstairs, wondering whether he had the courage to try and see if the Formic Queen in Special Collections was really real; to bring her to safety.

Price had decided that a leopard could not change its spots, you couldn't teach an old dog new tricks, and he was not in any way a true civilian. He was back in uniform today, spending his free time on the job cleaning his pistol. It was a very important pistol, it deserved to be in perfect working order.

He'd stop to help anyone the stepped in the shop, of course.

Dani was leading Bold out to the paddock when she realized that his walk seemed a little off. It didn't take too long to figure out that he'd lost a shoe. "Looks like someone is going to get an early visit from the farrier," she said, patting Bold's nose before putting him back in his stall. She went to check on the other horses to make sure they all had their shoes before getting on the phone to argue with the blacksmith.

The "Help Wanted" Sign was still up, there were three horses in the paddock who were available to ride, and The Gig was open for business.

The weekend had been oddly good for a change. Even with her one completely awful date on Saturday, she had ended up being glad she had gone to Caritas.

Of course, Ashley had been completely lazy yesterday and just spent the day on her sofa watching football. She wasn't sure she understood all of the rules, but it wasn't the worst way to spend a day.

This morning she was doing some yoga at work. She'd be happy to assist anyone who needed it though.

Jake was multitasking today, setting up the bar while on the phone.

"Come on now Minty Pops, I can practically hear yas givin' me puppy eyes through the phone," he cajoled. "I already said yes, didn't I? I'm comin' back for Thanksgiving, I'm not gonna forget."

A sigh. "Yes, I'll bring ye's a present, even though as I recall Thanksgiving's not supposed to be a present-givin' holiday."

Jake would get off the phone, eventually, really. In the meantime, Tino would be happy to serve you.

...Okay, in the meantime, Tino would serve you.

[ooc: I know it's early for a Caritas post, but work keeps dicking me around. AFK till 6:30PST and then around after that!]

Today, Makita had a mission. She was trying on different work-out clothing from the store, picking out things that could pass as regular clothing if needed. She liked the idea of wearing something a bit more flexible for Miss Angua's class than the jeans and other clothing she'd purchased in her time at Fandom, without going back to her 'wolf uniform.

Anything with neon or obvious spandex was automatically discarded into one pile, to be burned later, but Maki was happily playing dress-up today.

Kate had woken up early, and she wasn't sure why. Possibly it was because she knew she'd be heading to Baltimore after classes to work for a bit, to make up for Friday. She thought she might have woken up at an unusual time just because she knew there was weirdness coming up in her schedule.

But the fact was that she was up, and had a lot of time before her first class, so she made her way down to the Perk for an unbalanced breakfast of hot chocolate and a muffin.

She kind of liked the quiet of the morning on the island. Even if it somehow made her feel like she should've been smoking on the stroll through town. She didn't know why, either. And anyway, she was out of cigarettes.

And that led to wondering whether she could get Emma's attention across the island just by thinking about her and cigarettes very loudly.

She didn't really try it, though. It was a lazy morning at the Perk.

[ooc: Open! I've already given up on doing useful things today.]

Claudia was sort of half asleep at work today. She'd been feeling kind of drained lately, for no apparent reason.

She hoped she wasn't coming down with something. It was just starting to get nice out!

Alex opened up the shop, feeling much better than she had in the past week or so. She hoped she never got sick like that again. Ick.

Alex settled in behind the counter, a magazine in hand. She was taking it easy today, not planning on moving from that spot unless absolutely necessary.

The Magic Box is open.

Karla was at Dite's busily writing up notes for Ino's birthday party. It was only a few days away and it had to be at least as fun as Zack's, if not better. She'd meant to get to this earlier, but then the fish had invaded on Friday and she'd spent most of the weekend napping, and suddenly, here it was Monday already.

Darkness, where did the time go?

[That Karla was working on something is fine, but that it's Ino's birthday plans is NFB, please. No OCD today as I will be on extra SP.]

Jane arrived at the store, opened it, and needed five minutes to realize she wasn't going to be able to hold her place behind the counter for the whole day; she felt way too tired and her head was killing her. And it was not an extended hangover, really.

Really.

So she was going to curl in her office and die.

[No OCD, incredibly slow.]

Ralph was standing in front of Angua's desk, one leg lifted with his food against his knee. One arm was lifted over his head at a 45 degree angle, and the other was bent so he could touch is nose with his finger.

Angua, meanwhile, was sitting at her desk, looking at Ralph with deep concentration in her narrowed eyes. "Hm, not quite," she said after a moment of concentration. "Try your other arm a little lower, parallel to the floor....no, that's not it, either. Put the finger in your ear and the free hand on your hips."

Ralph got about halfway through the switch before he paused, put his other food on the ground, and both fists on his hip.

Angua grinned. "Okay, yeah, you got me; this has nothing to do with anything. You're getting better! Only half an hour until you figured that one out."

High five!
