It had taken an effort of will to come back to 'Dite's today, but Karla knew from experience that you couldn't hide from things like this forever. You had to get up and face reality, even those places that reminded you most of the people you lost. It was the mature, responsible thing to do, and it avoided the embarrassment of having the servants drag you out from under the bed and take a bath after the fourth day of hiding.

Fortunately, she had a book to distract her. And a plan for her lunch break. Ender was too good a friend to lose, just because he'd told her a few inconvenient truths.

The weekend had come and gone again. Not that his life really got all that different, Ender reflected, because his classes weren't exactly a large drain on his schedule. But weekends had a habit of meaning trouble, and so striking off another peaceful one had its own kind of reward.

Somewhere between answering his emails and puttering around the shop, he did get curious about one thing, though. And so he pulled up Jane and asked her if she knew anything about faulty firewalls on technology from Ben's world. He knew Ben was good at what he did-- which just made the virus all the more curious.

The little blonde girl avatar on the screen shrugged her shoulders a little. "Maybe he just isn't as good as he thinks he is," she said.

Ender squinted at the screen, then clicked back to his email.

Strange.

Outside the hotel, it was freezing, and Quinn had to congratulate herself on her decision to spend the weekend hibernating since it was clear no good would have come of going out to freeze her appendages off.

Inside the hotel, somebody had cranked the heater high enough that Quinn shucked her sweater a few minutes after she got to work. Calypso and reggae music played over the sound system, and a suspicious number of drinks in hollowed-out pineapples seemed to be going up to the guest rooms on the room service trays.

Quinn wasn't sure what had brought on the theme, but she decided she was in favor.

Welcome to the Arms Hotel!

Today was an almost eerily quiet day at the Groovy Tunes.

Yes, it was open. Jono had even hung a Now Hiring sign in the window.

But the stereo wasn't on today, and Jonothon hadn't bothered to haul his guitar into town this week, and the kitten that he'd brought for company was curled up and sleeping in a sunbeam on the other side of the room.

There were orders to be placed, which he'd... get to. And there were shipments to unpack, which maybe he'd leave a note about for one of the other staff members to worry about. Today, Jonothon's productive streak from yesterday had waned and twisted and had run the hell away, until all that Jono was really left with was a particularly strong desire to just sit and stare at his knees.

So, a normal day for Jono, really.

Coming out of the sway of the full moon, Angua was quite fine with spending a day in the trooper station doing little more than trying to put a dent in the ever present pile of paperwork that waited for her on Mondays.

Ralph had other ideas.

"No," Angua sighed, handing the folder back, "I don't think Mister Vimes would approve using some of the extra budget money on upgrading the uniforms to contain more bling. That's just my opinion, though, Ralph, you're welcome to propose the idea to him yourself. I could be wrong."

Said in the voice to remind Ralph that when she said she could be wrong, what she meant was fat chance. She went back to her paperwork until the next interruption of when Ralph had another idea for budget funds.

Dani had ordered a new bookcase for her office, so she wasn't surprised to find a special delivery box outside the stable. She brought it inside the barn and opened it up. But instead of the wooden boards for her bookcase, the box contained a very large floral planter.

"What the heck? I don't need this!" said Dani, pulling the planter out of box. She tossed it aside and went back to the office to call the shipping company to complain.

Makita was discovering the boot-display someone had put up last week. And while she privately thought the fur-lined thigh highs were a bit, well, impractical, she had discovered Ugg boots.

Dushka was going to be getting a late midwinter gift, if Maki could figure out what size would suit him best. He was a growing kid! For all she knew, the shrimp could be twelve feet tall by now...not that that was likely to happen. He was the baby of their group, after all.

Pixie Dust is open, and the shop girl is trying to figure out American shoe sizes. It's going to be an interesting day.

Jake wondered if he should be worried that coming back to Fandom was something of a relief after spending almost an entire week in St. John's.

At least Christian had been sent on his merry way, hopefully never to darken the Doyle's doorstep again. And Malachy had been well enough after the operation to fix his heart that he'd pointed out that Jake might as well move the rest of his crap out of said residence as well, since he had his own place (well, hotel room) in Fandom and all.

But all of that was rather irrelevant at the moment, because at the moment Jake was staring at the contents of a large crate a delivery guy had just dropped off.

"What in the shaggin' hell am I supposed to do with a plant pot that looks like a tricycle? This is a pub, not a bloody garden centre!"

Maybe he could re-gift it to Lacey or Mary or someone?

The inside of the Perk was warm and smelled like good coffee; both things Cindy could appreciate after the walk from the hotel in the evening cold. When Max had called her asking if they could talk--and after Cindy had verified that he legitimately meant 'talk'--she'd suggested the Perk so she could stock up on her personal supply of coffee and grab some for class tomorrow.

The mug she had in her hands right now? Pure indulgence.

Did she feel guilty? Not a chance.

[Cindy's there for one, but the Perk is open for all your Cindy or coffee needs!]
