Firekeeper and Blind Seer were not spending another work day outside, thank you. Fortunately, Firekeeper had a plan to win over Clyde the Clydesdale.

In the form of an apple and several sugar cubes for each of the other horses, who ate them calmly and smugly from the palm of her hand.

By the time she reached Clyde, the prospect of treats had- at least temporarily- won out over his nervousness and he let her feed him an apple and lump of sugar without shying away.

"...and that is why you should always be careful of what Shunsui tells you to do," Dolf said, "Because you never know if he means best for you."

About an hour ago, Apu had still looked enthused about this rant. After said hour of Dolf babbling about the issue intermittently, though, it was starting to get a little boring, even if the boy's fire wasn't diminishing any.

"I'm just saying," Dolf started again, then stopped. He squinted at the rack Apu had just been working on. "A dollar for a loaf of bread?" he asked, incredulously. "Did Shunsui ask you to give it this price?" Okay, so he didn't quite have the dollar to euro conversion handled in his head, so maybe that was just it...

...of course, then he found the $7 packet of cheese, and all hell broke loose. "Why is everything this expensive?!"

It was a good thing that Apu had remembered that Dolf's speed skating thing was on TV that weekend, or the ensuing ramble might never have ended.

Somehow, it just felt like an action film sort of a day. The kind of day where, honestly, Mitchell wouldn't have said no if George wanted to stop over and hang out in the theater with him. Except George had to work himself, and that meant Mitchell had to enjoy the day by himself. On Fandom.

There were worse ways to spend the time, he felt.

NOW SHOWING:
Clip, Aim, and Two Mighty Barrels

Whatever happened, he was going to amuse himself, that was for sure.

Lacey was expecting a special delivery today; she'd spent the weekend collecting, matting, and framing some new artwork for the diner walls, and all she needed was the set of picture-hanging hardware she'd ordered.

. . . the shipment that did come in was large, and bulky, and not at all what she expected.

"A white lawn chair? But I ordered nails . . ."

Suspicious glances at the kitchen staff yielded nothing but helpless shrugs and mumbled denials, so Lacey sighed, picked up the lawn chair, and headed for the storage room. "I guess this can just go back there with the tricycle planter for now."
