Last week's missing napkin dispensers had returned, fully stocked and ready to go. Lion-o did not question where they had gone or why they had to leave in the first place. He had more important things to worry about, like wondering if the weather would get better anytime soon.

Coconuts.

That was a new one, at least as far as William was concerned.

And somewhat more dangerous than the usual varieties of fruit and berry he was used to encountering in the shop. Oh well. It wasn't as if much could be done about it besides duck and cover.

When Alexander came into the shop today to find a new box of merchandice, he was almost worried about opening it. However, he took the plunge and gave it a try, and was quite pleased to find some old worn paperbacks inside rather than an assortment of often terrifying little trinkets such as last week. Even better, most of them weren't even those with the bodice-ripping, flowing hair covers, though, to be honest, he sometimes found those terribly interesting. They made his heart feel a little heavy, though, for his own lost love.

No, they were mysteries in the box today, and Alexander, intrigued, picked one up and started to read it while he sat behind the counter. Perhaps it was all the rain and the darkness outside, but he was instantly drawn in, eyes to the page, pages flipping eagerly as he wondered who might have done this book's heinous crime, going through the twists and turns with the plucky main character as she tried to figure it out.

He was so engrossed that his poor heavy heart might not be able to take it should he get any surprises while at work today.

Anakin, in his new position as sheriff, was down at the police station trying to teach Ralph how to make coffee the way Anakin liked it.

"Can I stand a spoon up in it? Will it stay on its own?"

Ralph nodded.

"That's disgusting. Try again."

The Trooper Station was open. Please save Ralph because you've just been robbed or mugged or something.

Tino didn't faint when Nathan showed up today. Nathan was almost disappointed but he figured you couldn't pull the 'back from the dead' card that often and have it work. So, he just wandered in, gave Tino a few friendly thumps on the back and took up his position behind the counter.

He'd missed freeze booze in the time he was gone so he wasted absolutely no time in breaking into it and getting himself started on a nice, good bender. It'd been awhile since he'd had one of those too.

Being alive definitely was better than being dead.

Today was a Pink Floyd day. The Wall specifically. Lindsay had no real reason other than she just liked the album. Also, it was the start of a new month. She decided that deserved something epic.

Groovy Tunes was open.

Alex was in her office, and her door was wide open. Just in case any of her students needed her. She should have come in yesterday, she told herself somewhat sternly.

In the meantime, she was doing some research on the internet. Not about Casey's problems with a corrupt judge, but to a much simpler website: the Food Bank in New York City.

They had an online form where you could donate, and even list the gift as a memorial for someone; Alex only wished that they hadn't called it a 'tribute.' Nevertheless, she wrote in the amount and typed in the name 'Katniss Everdeen' and hit send, feeling small and helpless. A check. Money flung toward a problem.

She couldn't go to New York to volunteer, but there would be soup kitchens in Baltimore.

The Law Offices of Cabot and Associates were open. Especially if you had legal troubles, and needed pro bono help. Or if you wanted to talk about Katniss.

(OKAY SO. The law office is open. Alex websurfing is fine for broadcast; giving money in katniss's name isn't (not that squirrels could have jumped up and read her screen, I'm just being overcautious zomg). If anybody stops by to talk about Katniss's (supposed) death, then the visit is FB but the entirety of the conversation will be NFB -- all other visitors are fair game. We cool, squirrels? ♥)

Jake shivered as he made it inside the door and water trickled past his collar and down his spine. Not that he was going to complain about the temperature or the rain, he probably just should have grabbed a jacket with a hood. At least he had gotten there before Caroline, so maybe his hair wouldn't be all plastered to his head by the time she joined him.

He took a moment to check out the games they had before he found himself a table as he waited for Caroline to show up.

[Fast Eddie's open. Jake's here for his date, but he's totes pokeable before she gets there.]

Jessica had her argument for tending bar all set for Eric tonight. They were in the future, so technically, she was thirty years older. Therefore she was clearly old enough to tend bar. Really.

She had a feeling he wasn't going to buy this one. But that was her story and she was sticking to it.
