It had been several things, really. A call from Emma Leroy asking Lacey what she thought of several proposed menu changes at the Ruby. An entire list of Hank's latest mishaps in vivid detail (and how Wanda had managed to cram that much of a smug, envy-inducing undertone of heh heh, sorry you missed it into an email, Lacey had no idea). A weird dream that had involved gophers, Fitzy losing a mayoral election to Emma, Brent selling Corner Gas, and her moving back to Toronto; it'd made her wake up feeling homesick. News about a kids' soccer team starting up in Dog River and wanting sponsors. Maybe the clockwork spiders had factored into it, too.

She was being pretty low-key about it for now, but Lacey wasn't bustling around prettying things up the way she usually did; paperwork was going to take up a lot of her time today. A little more spontaneity in her life wouldn't hurt, but she wasn't going to up and leave her employees in the lurch without making sure the diner was taken care of.

So paperwork: budgets, inventories, recipes, instructions, overly helpful lists. And if you squinted just right, maybe a little bit of wibbling while she was at it.

Today's Specials
Lettuce Cups with Stir-Fried Chicken
Mango-Ginger-Curry Soup
Bacon-Wrapped Hot Dogs

Luke's is open and, despite the manager's preoccupation today, still quite clean and shiny and (she hopes) welcoming.

[OOC: I'm too sleepy for OCD. Yeah, this is Lacey's last diner post, though she won't be leaving until Friday. Aww.]

Ariel was actually being good today, remembering to come into work at the record store instead of going off and traipsing through Atlantis excitedly. Oh, don't get her wrong; she definitely wanted to, especially since what she managed to explore yesterday left her feeling a little at home, but, really, she figured with the excitement of finally getting a load of Jim's flying surfboard, she could stand to remember to work. Besides, now she sort of wanted to save up her money to see if she could have Jim make her one of her own.

The whole feeling had left her wanting to put off her alphabet project for a day, though, as she wanted to just listen to (and sing and dance around the store to) songs about flying.

It was a very good day, yes.

Having had a successful radio and going to class, Butters headed into work at Fixer Uppers in a typical good mood. When he settled behind the counter, he did so with an assortment of little mechanical pieces and scraps, setting about the task of the popular thing to do by trying to build up his own metal spiders from scratch.

Unfortunately, Butters' skill in mechanics was more imagination than actual aptitude, and so he succeeded in putting together a lot of things that looked like metal spiders, but did not actually work like metal spiders until he started playing with them and moving them around and making up a script for them attacking everything in the shop amid a chorus of explosion and shooting sound effects.

The battle might not have been very epic to many, but to Butters, it was awesome.

It had been impossible to stay inside considering their new location. The temperatures were mild, the sky was bright and blue and they were in a place Bod would have never even imagined going. Atlantis was something he read about in books and saw in movies. It wasn't a place you were supposed to be able to see from a window or from across a stretch of land.

Bod had woken up early to take a nice long walk around the island and was now sitting outside the bakery with a few donuts on a plate in front of him and a mug of hot chocolate cooling on the table. Maybe it wasn't proper weather for that but he really loved chocolate.

Legs stretched out under the table, Bod pulled his sunglasses down across his eyes and really just set out to enjoy the breeze and the wonderful weather. Really, he thought he could sit here all day and just think about nothing at all.

Bod hoped maybe this was the beginning of a string of good days. There hadn't been a lot of those lately. Optimism was his friend today.

[Open town post, sure sure]

The planning phase was over, now it was time to turn some of the display ideas she'd had last week into a reality. Considering their new location, she thought the beach idea she'd shared with Emma would be a good place to start.

First, she cleaned and dusted the big window by the door and emptied out an entire container of blue sea salt onto the ledge. Once the 'ocean' had been properly situated, she added a few odds and ends to give it an appropriately 'beachy' feel.

And then she made up a few tropical-themed baskets to be kept on the counter next to the register with a little sign: Buy three or more items featured in our new display, get a free basket!

If she couldn't go to the beach today, the beach could come to her, dammit.

Sam the Gremlin stalked through the bushes in the park, looking for something to bite or chase.

The ducks mostly seemed to be rolling their eyes at her.

[ooc: Yes, for Sam's first gremlin bite, she thinks she's a gremlin. This is what happens when you bite back! Open park is v. much open, yis.]

Being in kinda-sorta Greece made the usual morning run almost fun for Tony today. Almost. His sides still hurt when he moved wrong, but at least it wasn't due to him being woefully out of shape.

Go him?

He slowed down once he entered the park, pulling out his phone to check for new messages. Because technology would always trump exercise in his mind.

((Open like a park!))

Momoko wasn't running late! She was... Uhm... uhm...

Okay, she was running late. She rushed into the office and set things up as quick as she could and totally hoped that Ms Cabot wouldn't get mad. To make up for it, Momoko was going to do all the left-over filing and call that law library for the books they needed, as well as finishing her research.

Anyone coming into the office today would be greeted with an over-eager smile and lots and lots of attention.

And if they came in after lunch, there were totally doughnuts.

[Cabot and Associates is open! Up late because I am made of fail today.]

Once again, Eric was nowhere in sight but Jack wasn't taking that as proof that the vampire wasn't lurking somewhere waiting to pounce and kill him good and dead for tasting the rum. That's why, just to be sure, Jack was announcing "I'm certainly not drinking any rum" at fifteen minute intervals.

Tiny rolled his eyes and texted to Tino demanding to know if the pay was better at Caritas.
