"No, I'm not," Ender said, sighing. "I'm just in a good mood, that's all."

"You might as well be humming," she judged. "Oooh! I should redirect some more spam. Maybe some educational pamflets--"

"Please don't." Ender shot Jane's avatar on his screen a dry look. "Let's get back to my inbox, please."

"Sorry about caring about your little human feelings for once," Jane sniffed. Ender ignored it. He still had work to do, even if he wasn't hearing back from Ben's universe - his own still had plenty to do, now that his colony ship was being geared up for launch sometime next year.

So there he was, typing away.

Trick-or-Treating, All Day Monday

'Twas that day of the year again. It might not have fallen on the weekend this time, but that didn't mean that the island hadn't gotten decorated and ready for this year's trick-or-treating route. There were festive candles and pumpkins lining the roads, and more spooky decorations against some of the walls and in all the trees.

Leaves were drifting through the sky merrily-- it was Halloween in Fandom, and time to get some candy.

Cafe Luke's, Monday

Vincent loved a good theme day, and Halloween was just about the greatest theme day there was. The whole place had been decked out in spooky coffins and skeletons, cats, bats, rats and spiders. Vincent himself was dressed up in his pharoah get up from the Egyptian tomb opening back in Eureka -- it wasn't as though most people here had seen it before, and he looked fabulous in eyeliner.

And, of course, it wouldn't be a good theme day without some thematic food:

Mummy meatloaf
Tentacle pot pie
Southern style caramel apples
Chocolate covered crickets

He wasn't really expecting anyone to go for that last one, but you never knew.

Devil's Nest [Monday night]

With Jack handing out candy at his residence, Eric took it upon himself to open the Devil's Nest tonight. After all, with a name like "Devil's Nest" not being open for Halloween was probably illegal by island ordinance.

...which reminded Eric to check, just in case.

The club had been dressed to the nines with fake cobwebs and plastic spiders, skeletons in the corners, and other marks of the season.

Eric, after being sure that Tiny wouldn't be making any of the drinks that Sandra Lee had featured in her special (so he'd watched. Shut up), took himself and his swooping cape to his usual corner in the VIP section and drank True Blood with his fangs extended.

It was Halloween. Appearances must be maintained.

The Gig, Monday Afternoon

Angelica took Smudge out for a ride today, pretending at times that she was still at the Renaissance Faire and riding the horse in a joust. Of course, her lance was just a stick, and Smudge was at times more interested in trying to get to the carved pumpkins to have a snack than charging into "battle." War was never easy.
