A letter arrived at the shop today. It was in a pink envelope with just a hint of a delightful perfume. The return address said, "Aphrodite, Temple of Love, Olympus, Greece."

The letter read:

May 15th, 2011

Dear Karla and Raven,

Just got back from a long trip into the past. Ares started playing around in history again, the brat. There was this woman, Clara, that distracted this German general in 1944 just long enough for the Allies to land on Normandy without too many problems. So, Ares decided to make it so she was never born by killing her mom years before Clara's birth. Nasty, huh?

Well, he didn't kill her himself, of course. Instead he arranged for her family to be on a certain ship on its inaugural voyage. Ever hear of the Titanic? You know, big boat, hits an iceberg, sinks, and lots of people drown? Yeah. That one.

So, I had to be on the ship so I could make sure Clara's mom got into a lifeboat. I did, of course, and Ares was foiled again. Hah! Take that!

Anyway, don't know when I'll be back on the island. I know it's been a month or so, but I might have another mission. It appears Ares might make trouble even further back -- something about a revolution? I don't know.

Hugs and kisses to both of you, and if you see Max tell him I said hi and send him a kiss. Be good, and pet Herc for me.

Love,

Me

There were, of course, hearts on the envelope and the stationary was pink. Some things never change.

OOC: NFI, NFB. 'Dite will be back on the island in a few days, yay!

The island had gone quiet. Zinzi had to assume it had something to do with the school -- there were way less teenagers running around, for one -- but it didn't make it any less disconcerting for someone used to being surrounded by the press of people and lost objects. Still, it was peaceful, and Sloth didn't seem much concerned by it.

Not that he'd seemed much concerned by any of the many other weird things that had happened on the island thus far.

She surveyed the street, cradling her coffee as Sloth clung to the other chair, half asleep. "What do you think, baby?" she asked him. "The diner's nice and all, but maybe it's time to pick up a second job or two. Might be nice to move into a real apartment."

[ooc: for anyone else still hanging out on the island.]
