The Gig, Sunday

In addition to yesterday's soap, there was now a crate full of mops at the Gig. Firekeeper, however, was just going to frown at it.

"Is not that messy!" she said aloud, her tone indignant. Not that she had the slightest clue who was responsible for these random deliveries, but sometimes you just had to express your exasperation.

In a desperate effort to finally make some progress in his attempts to get home, Dolf had dragged a whole stack of books with him, tossed them on the counter, and got to work.

Unfortunately, that meant he wasn't... available... when Nana knocked over a stand of chips. Or got into a fight with the panda. Or when Apu had to run after them waving his broom and attempting to save some of the store from nuclear annihilation.

Which he did, eventually.

While Dolf's nose was still stuck in a book.

Today's Squishy flavors: Dog Hair, Panda Hair, Red.

Audrey liked these kinds of days. They were perfect for heading out to the Perk, grabbing a hot cup of coffee and a table by the window so you could look out at the weather, and read a paper when the weather wasn't that interesting.

And seriously, reading the news from the Washington Post and getting a dose of reality was kind of refreshing every now and then. Imagine living somewhere that crimes happened, and not just on days when everyone went insane. ...It should not be weird to do that.

It was sometimes easy to get bored at the door, and it was times like that that Susan began to focus on things like the music she had to listen to. Even when that was the very last thing she wanted to do.

Tonight the DJ was stuck on this AC/DC thing, and Susan had no patience for the screeching/screaming style of singing to begin with. Then while complaining in the safety of her own head that this seemed to be a really long song, she realized that no, all their songs just sounded exactly alike.

That, she decided, was not making her night better.

The Devil's Nest was open! And shaken all night long.
