It was a usual day for Hope, which meant first some cleaning and then sitting behind the counter with a magazine, all while irritating Apu because that was always good for entertaining herself with for a little while.

But today she was also avoiding repeated phone calls from her mother. She'd already given the "No, Mother, I'm not leaving Fandom just because you want me to, I like it here, if I leave it's because I want to" speech a couple times, so now it was on to ignoring phone calls.

Such a cheerful day.

While Bod had some big plans for tomorrow, that wasn't going to stop him from coming into work today. The staff greeted him warmly and Bod even took a few moments to discuss said big plans with them before he wandered into the front of the diner to get everything wiped down, set up and opened up.

Today, Toby had decided he was going to tackle cooking something himself. His first attempt was... kind of overcooked, but subsequent trials were much more successful.

All in all, Toby was feeling pretty pleased with himself.

Ben had barely pulled himself away from the newsfeeds from home since the coup, and when he did it was only to hear from family members: Jaina, to tell him that his father's exile had been reversed; and Leia, to tell him that she, Han and Allana were heading to Klatooine to try to soothe the ruffled feathers of a planet that'd nearly been the victims of a government-mandated Mandolorian massacre.

He sat down behind the desk, ran his fingers through his hair, and began scanning the headlines: anti-slavery groups demanding the strongest forms of condemnation about what almost happened on Klatooine from the new government, Daala being charged with crimes against sentient species, projections about how the new government would negotiate with the Imperial Remnant, news about how the Senate had tabled its debates for the day...

And then his comlink updated with breaking news--"VEILA FOUND GUILTY OF MURDER"--and his heart stopped.

"No," he whispered, scanning the article for good news that he knew he wouldn't find. If she'd been convicted of the assassination of Gilead Pelleaon, the sentence would be death.

It was turning out to be another one of those days. There was a guest on the third floor who was calling the front desk with really dumb complaints. It started when he complained that his room was too cold. When Mary went to bring him extra blankets, she found that his room was cold because he had all the windows open. Then he ordered a salad from room service and complained that his lettuce was too cold. Mary sent Gunther to deal with that one.
