Kenzi whole-heartedly supported Emma's efforts to get people to ride the cock. So:

Ride the Rooster, Win a Certificate!
And chocolate!

And a photo-op. Not that she'd mention that.

It was Peeta's first day of work. He wasn't so much nervous as he was excited and the giddy way he was walking around, getting to know the other employees and the cafe probably showed that. He didn't really know half the food he was writing down on the specials board but the guys in the back promised he would get to try it.

Today's Specials
Grilled Cilantro Salmon
Grilled Corn Salad
Boston Cream Pie

Luke's was open.

After leaving Fandom Jaina a brief (and not terribly helpful) update about his adventures last weekend where he'd been slightly electrocuted but was otherwise Completely Fine, Really!, Ben settled behind the counter with an enormous cup of coffee and some of the data Ender had forwarded him about Shakespeare.

It never hurt to be too prepared about the next assignment.

The shop was open, though, if your iPod had decided to stop working or something.

There wasn't all that much to do at the store today. No sweeping, no shelving, no terrible goat creatures lurking around to ambush people. It was quiet and almost completely normal.

Normal for an Asgardian god.

Which meant Loki was sitting on the counter, reading through a stack of books he'd found on the shelves. Ah, awesome magic. How he missed you.

Birthday or not, Toby still had a shift at Goodvalor's today. Well, he supposed he could've skipped out on it, given that his boss was currently out of town and probably wouldn't ever find out... but really, it wasn't like it was all that difficult a job and besides, it meant he could totally justify putting cake on special today.

TODAY'S SPECIAL:
CITROS SNOW CAKE

It was Friday, which meant Hope was at work. She'd never think of not showing up, even if she was feeling rather discontent lately. She understood responsibilities, damn it.

Well, that and she liked annoying Apu. It was kind of a hobby, really. She was good at it, too.

But for the moment, she was content to leave him alone and page through yet another magazine.

Today's Squishy Flavors: Productivity Pink, Contentment Cantaloupe, Blue Raspberry.

Eric was behind the velvet rope, gleefully texting to Pam about the idiot humans who believed that a few crazy people eating each other's faces was the start of a zombie invasion.

Because honestly.

Tiny was behind the bar on his own phone while he tried in vain to get Tino to stop sending him pictures of his latest swim attire. Because of the things his eyes would never stop seeing, tequila shots were on the house.

Just another Friday night at the Devil's Nest.

*Zeela! You shouldn't be doing this! I should wake Sholeh up right now!*

Zeela ignored her big sister's chastising. It had been weeks since she'd gotten to be out for longer than a few moments at a time and she wasn't going to waste the opportunity. Sholeh had fallen asleep over her books and before Zhahar had a chance to do or say anything, Zeela had come into view and seized the chance for freedom. Sholeh's nightgown had been tossed aside, Zeela's own, more comfortable clothing had been donned, and Zeela was running off into the night.

Zhahar hadn't shut up the entire time, but that was all right. Zeela'd had plenty of opportunity to learn how to tune her sisters out over the years. And for all of her threats, Zhahar hadn't woken Sholeh up yet.

Which just meant that Zhahar was already planning to do something similar next time Sholeh fell asleep on them. Fair. Zeela didn't mind sharing.

She didn't stop running until she reached the park, weeks of pent-up energy just bursting to be used. And once she got there, she yelled and whooped and turned cartwheels and climbed trees and splashed through the pond, making faces at the flamingos.

And then she spotted the playground. This was gonna be great.
