Some people, as Topher understood it, spent their shifts at Stark Industries fixing things.

Topher, on the other hand, was spending today's shift breaking some electronics (his own) in tiny, subtle ways so that he could give said broken things to Tony and let him fix them. Because he was a good friend like that.

Topher's definition of "helpful" was not other people's.

Jonothon's shift today at The Boards was spent poking around on the internet. The art of Google, he'd managed to master over the last few years, and it had hit him this morning that for all the opening shop he was doing on Saturdays, business would probably be better if they had more to offer than a rental stage and a recording booth in the basement.

... Of course, actively advertising that they had either? Also might be helpful.

And so he'd rearranged the letters on the marquis that morning (which was so much simpler these days, now that he didn't need a ladder), to reflect that the Boards had more to offer than just a couple of productions a year.

1/2 PRICE FOR NEW CUSTOMERS
Recording Sessions in Our Studio

Yes- we have one of those!

And in the meantime, he'd be in the office, poking through possible workshops to hold through the summer months. One-day classes on... on improv, or doing lights and sound, or, his personal favourite, musical theatre. It was wisest to play to his strengths for these things if he'd be hosting them himself, after all, and Jono was a musician before he was a Thespian, any day of the week.

There were no new watering cans turning up at The Gig today. However, they were going to come in handy to take care of all the potted plants that were in front of the barn when Dani arrived. She was started to suspect that the horses were ordering stuff online to spruce up the barn when Dani wasn't around.

The Gig was open, and Dani would appreciate an extra pair of hands to help her water all the plants.

Apparently, Tino thought that he and April were friends, and that April was interested in listening to his ideas about cool new pick-up liines he wanted to try.

Tino was mistaken.

"Are you ever going to shut up?" April asked him dully after about twenty minutes of this horrible treatment.

It seemed like a no.

And so the headdesking began. Or head-bar-ing, rather.

Cassie was at work and straightening up displays and dusting cases.

While she was doing this, she kept making notes of books she wanted to purchase that she thought would be good tools for helping with her magic. All any extra knowledge could do was help out with anything bad that happened back at home, right?

The Magic Shop was open and Cassie was ready to be as helpful as she could be.

Pressing the stop button on his tape player, Carl leaned against a tree staring at the small town just a few steps away. While the police in Alexandria hadn't exactly told him to leave the city, they had followed him to the border and parked, watching him leave. His car had made it to the the parking lot at the edge of the causeway leading to the small island he'd been told about earlier, and then sputtered to a very well deserved but ill-timed, in Carl's opinion, death. He'd walked across the causeway and was now just outside the Town of Fandom.

After a few more minutes pondering the wisdom of living in a place with a street named Apocalypse, even for a short time, considering some of the things he'd been witness to, Carl pressed the record button again, to finish his story.

"Despite eyewitness accounts, the police lab reported the hairs found at the two murder scenes belonged to a domestic cat and a german shepherd, respectively."

The look on Carl's face went well with his sarcastic tone.

"All sightings of the giant owl or the giant black cat have been blamed on escaped zoo animals. From a zoo that hasn't reported an escape in over twenty years and has never had a black cat or barn owl in its permanent exhibits."

"Phone calls to June Lemon, lone descendant of the original family of settlers, have gone unanswered. According to the university, she has withdrawn for 'family emergency reasons', and sightings of an escaped black panther have increased along the most common route north out of Virginia, with local wildlife officials, of course, reminding people that such animals do not exist. The only comfort being that no further sightings of a bead-wearing indian with a giant owl have been reported. Yet."

He pressed the stop button again, letting the tape player fall back to the ends of the shoulder strap as he reached for his luggage. Or what he had of it. He'd have to sneak back into town for the rest after finding a place to stay. Hopefully in time to watch the LA Dodgers lose to the Cubs.

[OPEN POST! Important note: Carl thinks it's still Sunday, June 2, 1974, and that the island is off the coast of Virginia.]

"He's wearing what?"

Wordlessly, Tiny held out his phone. Bo, he'd indicated, owed him for covering last week, so she was contractually obligated to look.

"I hate you. I hate you so much. What's that shiny -- oh God, is that a shot down his pants? You could have him arrested for sending you that, you know."

Bo wasn't serious. Not really. Mostly.

Though if Tiny went through with it, she was so asking him for a five minute head start over to Caritas so she could be there when Jake came to answer the complaint.
