Topher had a wolf puppy and a backpack full of inappropriate starches when he got to Stark Industries today. Not to worry, though. The inappropriate starches were for the wolf puppy.

...Or was that maybe even more worrisome than if they'd been for him? Oh, well.

One by one, he opened the bags of snacks, tossed them Ace's way, and watched to see whether she liked them or not. It was basically science!

Or so he would tell his boss, if she happened to stop by today. Because 'it's science!' sounded a lot more legit than 'I don't want her to starve.' You know. To him.

Topher logic, ladies and gentlemen.

After Emma's evening class on Tuesday, Jono hadn't been able to flee the island quickly enough. It wasn't anything personal, Fandom. It was just an over-inflated sense of responsibility, driving him to do more fighting alongside the New Warriors, and had nothing at all to do with some fifteen year-old kid that Raven had mentioned to him last weekend.

Honest.

In any case, the group had managed to locate another depowered mutant from the old Xavier school, and they'd all unanimously agreed to keep an eye on Sofia, to see if she looked as much like she was in need of the New Warriors as the rest of them had been. A second chance, after having the sky taken away from her? The entire group was fairly certain that she'd leap for the opportunity. After they had made their decision, they'd spent another hour debating before settling on Barnell to do the honours. And then, of course, more training. Training, and then running rampant around New York, fighting crime and saving the innocent. And it had even managed to take Jonothon's mind off of what had been eating at him, at least until he returned to the island.

Now he was back, and was trying his luck at distracting himself some other way. Even with the air conditioning, it was too hot to focus on paperwork. So, he'd put out a sign in the lobby directing people to the basement if they needed service, and he'd dragged his guitar into the recording booth and was messing around, using hard-light projections to work the recording equipment while he played. He wasn't planning on cutting a record or anything, some things just weren't meant to be, but... well... a man could dream, at least.

Even now, it was still novel to be able to play back the music he'd made and listen to the sound of his own voice.

When was the best time for someone from England and a redhead to go out to the beach? In the middle of a heatwave? No?

Well, guess what they were going to do anyway. That's right.

Guy dropped a pair of towels and a cooler on the sand, kicking off sandals. And then instantly regretting it as the sand was much, much hotter than he'd expected it to be. "See, much more fun than hanging out in the AC."

NO IT WASN'T, GUY.

[[For that chick, but the beach is open like... a beach]]

It was still too hot to spend time outside. Dani was spending the day in the barn, where she could be left alone in peace to polish tack while singing "Call Me Maybe."

Until someone walked in on her, of course.

The Gig was open!

When Clint got to the gym today, he'd made the stupid, terrible decision to actually answer the phone when it rang instead of just letting the voicemail grab it, and he'd been stuck listening to a salesman ever since.

"I don't know how many times I can tell you, we don't need step machines here. I know, we're a gym, but--look, I would go outside and take a picture for you, but somehow, I don't think that's gonna convince you to stop talking, is it?"

Why did he not possess the technology to smack someone through a telephone yet? SHIELD's researchers needed to get on that.

[Open gym is open... and air conditioned!]

Cassie was really glad that the store had a working air conditioner because the walk to work had already been warm and she knew it was supposed to get really hot today. She would rather be inside than outside right now.

Once she got the store opened, she set about unpacking some of the inventory boxes that were in the back and made a list of some supplies that she needed for her personal work.

The Magic Box was open and Cassie found stuff to make lemonade for customers. No vodka, though.

It was disgustingly hot outside, so, naturally, April was occupying herself by sending Tino on regular errands to pick up things the bar was missing. Every time he came back, she "noticed" something else they were out of -- ideally, things that could only be purchased on the mainland.

April was very mean.

Unfortunately, it was while Tino was already out on a particularly long run to pick up sour mix that April noticed something they were actually missing.

Bo had become far too reliant on saying Oh HELL no when she stepped out the door during this heatwave, so today when she left for the Devil's Nest, she went for variety, and said... well, it rhymed with duck piss.

Then she pulled out her phone as she walked and looked up the temperature elsewhere.

Then she said duck piss again, except louder, and made a call.

Then she opened the damn bar and hung out a sign, because seriously, duck piss feather.

ORDER SOMETHING WITH ICE AND YOUR DRINK IS HALF-OFF

Every half-price drink meant she got to stick her face over the ice bucket again, after all.
