The Perk, Thursday morning

Raven had finished packing up her room, which took a lot longer than she ever could have imagined when she first arrived in Fandom since she'd come with little more than the clothes she'd been wearing. Once packing was accomplished, she'd ventured out into the cool morning grey to take a walk and visit some of her favorite places on the island. It wasn't like she would never be back, it but wouldn't be the same at all.

One of her last stops was the Perk so she could get some tea to warm herself a little. She'd handwavily let friends who still remained on the island know where she'd be and that she was leaving that day. Gotham awaited.

William had thought to get some final tweaks done on the drone he'd been working on in class over the last few weeks, now that he could fiddle with it without worrying about a deadline.

That was until he felt something bump against his shoe. Glancing down with a frown at whatever had interrupted him, his eyes widened in surprise. Was that... a baby porcupine?

No, closer examination revealed that it was, in fact, a hedgehog.

"I don't think the floor is the safest of places for you to be," William murmured, leaning over to pick the little guy up. Cupping him in one hand, he rooted around until he found an empty plastic storage container. Looked like he'd be spending his shift today researching what a hedgehog might eat.

Dite's Decadent Delights, Thursday

It was Emma's last shift at Dite's for the summer, so she was perched on a stool behind the counter, glasses on, running the numbers for the shop. Longhand, of course, since Emma always found numbers soothing.

But the ledger was being marked with red and black and blue ink, neat columns lining up to give Karla (and Dite) a detailed history of the summer, as well as a few potential inventory and financial forecasts based on item popularity and island demographics.

Dite's was open, and Auntie Emma is in the house.

Jeremy Darling had a job. A job he had been scared into so thoroughly that he actually felt a little afraid for the state of his annual performance review.

No, it didn't make sense. Yes, the fear was still very real.

So if anyone needed him during his first real shift (not counting last week, when he'd had to clean up after those two chicks who'd fought some dogs in the store or something), he was just going to be over here in the expensive menswear section with Hugo Boss and Ferragamo and all his other friends, okay? It was where he felt the safest.
