Cafe Lukes, Tuesday Afternoon

Karla came into the cafe to get a problem shoved into her lap. The soda machine was no longer serving different varieties of soda. Instead, the labels now read Cherry, Grape, Banana, Pineapple, and Buckley's. The staff was huddled on the other side of the machine and staring at it like it might bite.

"Well, have you poked it to see what happens?" Karla demanded.

The staff shook their heads. "We were waiting for you!" the dishwasher told her.

Karla grumbled, but obliginly shoved a cup under the spout and hit the cherry flavor. The thich, red liquid that oozed out was quite familiar, especially after she'd spent all day yesterday scrubbing the floors at Dite's. She didn't even have to hold the cup up to her nose to get hit by that terrible cough syrup smell to know. "All right, all right," she said, handing the cup off to someone else to throw away. "Someone put an 'Out of Order' sign on the machine. Hopefully this is just a bit of Fandom weird that will pass, but I'll go see if we have room in the budget for another soda machine just in case."

A waiter raised his hand and said, "All the tea has been replaced with Theraflu. And Emergen-C."

Karla shrugged. "I don't think anyone ever got sick off of those," she said. "Guys, I think we've been given our theme for the day, right?"

Stark Industries, Tuesday, Jan. 15

The fruit-and-chocolate theme from the weekend had started up again when Victor got to work this morning. It was a dreary gray day, so finding candy-covered cherries all over the place with more tumbling out of every drawer he opened was actually kind of cheerful at first. Eating shop food struck him as questionably hygenic, but once he reflected he'd swallowed an alien snake egg barely a week before he decided to go for it.

The whole set-up was pretty sweet, no pun intended, until he realized he was going to have to clean up the cherries. That was not a fun part of his job.

He wondered if the shop knew it was still a month until Valentine's Day.

For anyone wondering why the zombie band was playing The Girl From Ipanema on loop... Kitty tried. She'd asked for something with beat after the third time she heard the song, and the drummer's other arm promptly fell off when they tried to play, and she just wasn't dealing with that this week.

So elevator music it was. Elevator music as played by the undead.

The good news for Mary was that Danny McCoy had managed to pay off Gunther's gambling debts, which meant that she had her chef back. The bad news? Gunther had discovered online gambling. So if it appeared that the wifi in the lobby was not working, it was really because Mary was trying to keep Gunther from going online during working hours. Eventually, she'd have to come up with a better solution.
