Well folks, as Friday dawned on the island, it was time for an almost-the-weekend checklist:

Creepy animals in the preserve? Check!

Psychos roaming the eastern streets of Fandom (albeit with a few less weapons but all their insanity intact)? Check!

Heavily-armed Hyperion workers guarding the dig site even more tensely because the odds of Handsome Jack believing in giving people the weekend off were small? Check!

But hey, there was less noise coming from the dig site today--maybe that was a good sign? Or maybe it was like a small child suddenly being quieter in their room, and the good citizens of Fandom would want to take Tannis' advice and get armed up?

Yeah, the latter was probably the smarter idea.

Friday the thirteenth, indeed. Tonight was supposed to be the night of the show, but Jono was facing more than a slight moral dilemma with this one. If it had been only waffles falling from the ceiling and gremlins running amok in the costumes, that would have been one thing. Hell, if his biggest problem tonight was that the costumes were still wrong after a trip to the cleaner's to complain, then he'd cope with that.

... Jekyll could probably get away with wearing the Scrooge outfit. He figured he'd divvy up the costumes for the three spirits and Marley however worked best, and there were plenty of outfits for the extras, if he really had to push it.

But no, of course there had to be people outside killing his actors and audience in the streets. Of course. Jonothon sighed, and then sent a mass-text to his cast and crew:

If you can't get to the Boards without getting hurt, DON'T TRY. I am not actually a firm believer in that 'The show must go on' adage.

And the rest... He'd play by ear. Somehow. Maybe he'd just keep the doors open for people who needed a safe place to hide from the killers outside, and if any of his performers did show up, he could get them to just do a musical revue and select scenes or something.

Bloody Friday the thirteenth.

[Open with a very moddable Boards! No psychos allowed. Well. Unless they're locals.]

It turned out that there were worse things than temporarily dying. Like standing outside a weapons store wearing a sign at his employer's request.

poor Alec )

He was also wearing a rather disgruntled facial expression, though Ron hadn't demanded that part.

It was chilly out, and really, what had Alec done to deserve this? He'd much rather take his chances with the psychos again.

Roland wasn't out busking today to make money.

Okay, he wasn't just out busking today to make money.

He was mostly out busking today to calm the weirdos the hell down. He had his guitar, his magic, and John Lennon, and he'd used all three before to calm an angry and depressed crowd and move them back towards peace and happiness, and that had been when up against a Dark Adept himself, so surely it'd work against a few violently crazy folks, too, right?

And, you know, if it didn't, he also had his running shoes on. Even if death was apparently temporary on the island, right now, that didn't mean it wasn't going to hurt a lot. Roland was a big fan of running away being the better part of valor.

[ooc: Open! I refuse to let the massive workload I have right now stop me from getting at least a little quality BDE in.]

The island was being weird, but that didn't mean Allie was going to ignore the fact that she had to work.

It did mean her sword was resting on the bar within easy reach.

For some reason the DJ decided to play all the music Allie had ever seemed to like, while Tiny was busy cleaning glasses quietly behind the bar.

It was almost an early Christmas miracle.
