It was cold out, but Yeul had felt colder even here on the island and, either way, it did not bother her. She stepped carefully, but with the ease of long practice, as she meandered through the snow that hid the rocks on the beach and made it rather more treacherous than it was in the warmer months.

This beach reminded her of other beaches. One, in particular, though she chose not to dwell on it.

Instead, Yeul contented herself with watching the waves shift and move, and enjoying the wind that tugged and tangled her hair.

It was not a particularly nice day, all things considered.

Yeul enjoyed it anyway.

April wasn't sure if it was here to be adopted or not, but there was definitely a loose bird in the shelter.

She called the animal control guys to see if they had had anything to do with either a weird prank or a late-night drop-off, but all she was getting was a busy signal. Way to go, 2014.

Victor had gotten used to the weird phantom voices in the shop over the last few months. Usually it was random guy banter or electronic bleeps and bloops that were easy enough to tune out. He worried the island was glitching, but -- given the lack of evidence on ways to fix it -- had put the whole concept pretty much in the not-his-problem pile.

But today he heard his own voice for the first time.

"Feels like you tried to feed the baby caramel, too."

He put on his headphones and turned the music up loud before he could hear any more. He didn't need to be reminded that he still missed Olive two days before Valentine's Day, thanks. He could do that just fine on his own.

[OOC: Open shop. OCD has fled for good.]

So the last 36 hours had been as epic as promised. The sugar crash and hangover nearly made Kenzi miss the portal back, though.

And when she got in to Luke's, the staff had thrown her at the freezer to find ingredients, and crap, who re-arranged Freezer World? And who let in the polar bears?

"Next time, you negotiate with the giant Coke-addicts."

SPECIALS:
Coca-Cola Pie
Hangover Huevos Rancheros
Some kind of Salad, I don't know.

At 3 PM, Wednesday afternoon, a warm breeze blew over the boardwalk. It was warmer than likely this time of year - in fact, both the smell and the temperature evoked something of the height of summer.

Soft voices whispered and sang, sometimes audible, sometimes not. "...de chansons du ciel..." they whispered. "... chantiez avec voix enfantine... ...des chansons de la terre... votre choix..."

Once or twice, they were joined by snatches of a familiar tune through an unfamiliar instrument.

An hour later, the warmth lifted and the voices faded.

In Jake's opinion, there were few things worse than coming in to your job at a bar and finding the stockroom more or less empty.

There was one thing that he could definitely think of as worse, though: coming in to your job at a bar and finding the stockroom now contained no alcohol, but did house a trebuchet.

The hell was he even supposed to do with that?

Luckily, there was still enough stock out front that they should be okay, and he just... really hoped that the stockroom would be back to normal sometime soon.
