Cara was not talking to Tino this week, largely because she still hadn't forgiven him for signing her up for those dates last week.

Of course giving him the silent treatment meant she also wasn't going to ask him what a 'jigger' was. Or a 'muddler'. Or what any of the oddly shaped glasses in the bar were named.

Let's just say there was a reason for tonight's special.

The day that would greet Fandom's visitors was sunny with just a hint of fall crispness in the air -- perfect weather for reunions, or for almost anything else. A large tent set up in the park had been decorated with balloons, streamers, and a few minor drifts of glitter. Of course there was plenty of food, as well as tables, chairs and shadowy bits for parents, relatives and friends who fancied a quieter start to their weekends.

A large banner hung at the entrance to the park read:

WELCOME TO PARENTS' WEEKEND 2014

Mary was in a good mood as she directed Gunther and his sous chef to hang a new banner in the lobby. The banner she thought she ordered said, "Welcome Fandom High Parents!" The banner that went up in the lobby said, "Congratulations Polly and Jun Ho!"

"Oh no," said Mary, her smile fading. "The one I wanted for Parents Weekend probably got sent to Las Vegas by mistake. Well, maybe that's the only thing that will go wrong this weekend." Like that would happen. The only response Mary got was laughter from Gunther, the sous chef, and the gremlins hiding in the janitorial closet.

It was impossible to miss the fact that there was an event going on at the school this weekend. Which meant a whole heap of potential customers showing up. So while normally Eliot didn't bother keeping a close eye on the diner more than once a week or so, he was behind the counter today, making sure the staff didn't fuck anything up too much.

"Your confidence in us is overwhelming," the cook said. The woman who looked exactly like him only with long hair who was introduced as "Cookie's step-sister" nodded.

"My bro's, like, got it covered, okay?"

Eliot groaned. "Just try not to injure yourselves, okay? And put on a goddamn hairnet."

Today's specials

Rosemary curly fries with bloody mary ketchup
Peanut butter and banana sundaes

Oh Goddess oh Goddess oh Goddess oh Goddess--

It was a miracle Liara had found the presence of mind to locate a restaurant that would suit her mother's tastes, let alone get there in time to secure a table. She had dropped items she was holding twice already out of sheer nerves - let alone ruminations on the ramifications that her mother's presence on a planet that was not yet spacefaring would have--

What didn't exactly help her nervous state of mind was the fact that every other person at the table did not seem in the least bit ruffled by anything that was going on. Not that they should be... ruffled. Except they should be. This was a strange and bizarre dinner and Liara should have never blurted out her invitation to this event to anyone, let alone several individuals.

She shoved a breadstick in her mouth before she blurted out something else - like Goddess or how have you been, Caius?

Her mother just smiled, like the strange, ethereal creature that she was and Liara could never aspire to be like in any capacity.

[[ liara is here for caius, yeul and her mother, but taste of thai is open for all your other thai food needs ]]

It was Parents Weekend, and so Caritas was open. The zombies were probably still hoping people would buy their merchandise (apparently they'd branched out into posters) but Tino had somehow gotten bow ties on them to dress them up, and there was some extra Febreze tonight. That probably wouldn't help keep anyone from asking about them, but there was only so much you could do.

Kitty was behind the bar, as was Tino, who was also wearing a bow tie. Kitty didn't ask about anything anymore.

SPECIALS
50% OFF FOR GUESTS!

It was hard to miss the fact that it was Parent's Weekend. So Allie was at the bar, ready to diligently check IDs as needed. Tiny wouldn't dream of serving anything stronger then a soda to anyone that was underage.
