The Preserve, Wednesday

After baking class, Hanna went out on her run, but took a different path through the Preserve this time, away from the beach. It wasn't too long before she started to notice that the trees were looking -- different. Sick. Greyer bark; fewer leaves, and some barren spaces that looked dead.

Spring couldn't come soon enough, really. She made a note to maybe bring in plants, or some seeds, to help the forest recover. Then sped up and resumed her run.

[open, if you happen to be in the Preserve.]

Bucky had seen one of the posters on his way to work. It had amused him, and he'd taken note of the date in case he might want to actually attend. Which he probably would. The hermiting he'd been doing in his first while on the island didn't suit him.

But maybe he was learning something about the island even without spending too much time around people, because when he made it to the store and checked the new arrivals, he wasn't even surprised to find that some of the new wares were suitable for Friday's social event.

So he made a sign to put in the window.

NEWLY ARRIVED
be a dapper dandy
with our mustache gummy candy!

The HELP WANTED, inquire within! sign was still there as well. Wonka's was open for the day.

Kenzi was impatiently watching the clock for her break today. Things to do! People to see! Treasures to acquire!
In the meantime, she was teasing the staff about their fear of the people living upstairs. And sampling the new microbrews. How bad could they be, when they'd instituted beer?

SPECIALS
Soft pretzels
Cheesy potatoes
Ice Cream of Accomplishment

Luke's was open.

Every little town was different, but in the end, every little town was the same. It was like hearing the same song in a slightly different key, or played on a new instrument. The variations were fascinating, but the chorus didn't change.

His plans were progressing ever-so-nicely. Perhaps more of these residents could be lured in by his items, today?

The store in the door read, as always,

NEEDFUL THINGS
A DIFFERENT KIND OF STORE

You Won't Believe Your Eyes

(There are going to be major pockets of SP today, so please bear with us! But the shop is VERY OPEN for anyone looking to browse, chat, buy cursed items, or pick up an actual antique!)

After last night, it was official. There was going to be a themed party on Friday. By Wednesday morning, Mike had a bunch of posters that he was hanging up all over town. Sure, he knew all the usual suspects and could've probably just texted out invites or something, but he wanted to make sure the word got out to people he didn't know yet, too.

Also, he'd enjoyed making the posters.

Cut for poster! )

Mike was quite proud of himself for this one, thank you. You could tell by the smirk as he gazed at his handiwork.

[ooc: Whoot, party! This post open for reactions and/or catching Mike while he's hanging up posters!]

Irene had survived her birthday with a glass of wine in hand and her phone firmly shut off in another room, and really, she felt like all of that was quite to be commended.

Which was why she had a cupcake at work with her today, which she was slowly eating over the course of several hours, because it was just one cupcake, after all. Plus, she was eyeing the shop and considering what she might do for St. Patrick's Day -- green dildos didn't seem like an exceptional product to promote, honestly. (She wouldn't feel any stranger about using one than any other color, of course, but it also didn't seem like something someone would come out and buy specifically for the holiday, either.)

So instead, she refreshed the lingerie display with some green outfits, along with several pairs of boxers and panties that declared KISS ME, I'M IRISH.

...and she wasn't, but she might have to invest in a pair, anyway. Because really. What a lovely location for that invitation.

[open shop, no OCD, slow while I'm at work/headachey!]

It took Alana a while to figure out what was wrong with the shelves at Book Haven today, but finally she hit on it: All the covers were green. Not a universal primary green, but a range of hues from soft yellow-green to minty pastel green to a deep forest green, with some teal and hazel sneaking in as well.

She wasn't sure why the bookstore was celebrating a holiday she barely understood, but it seemed harmless enough. She just hoped they'd be back to normal by next week.

[OOC: Open shop, open post!]

Squall was deep in his usual pastime of playing a game of cards against himself, when Tinu yawned, scratched himself, and looked up from his 3DS. "Oh, you're here."

That got an eyeroll from Squall. "I'm here every day."

"Oh, of coooourse you are," Tinu snorted, with an exaggerated magical handwave to show what he thought of that declaration.

Squall snorted right back. "You just never look up. Who do you think rings up all of the customers?"

That got Tinu to actually put his game down for a moment. "Oh, sure, all the customers we have," he sneered, with another handwave.

Squall just shrugged. He considered firing Tinu... but, really, they had a pretty good friendship going on.

[Store is open and OCD-free]
