In a surprising twist, Gunther was folding towels at the front desk today while Mary was running back and forth from the kitchen. Her experiment with doing the cooking herself to stay on budget seemed to be working – at least as far as the budget was concerned. She was quickly running out of ideas for new menus, not to mention she was at the limit of her cooking skills. And while Gunther had enjoyed his time off at first, he'd gotten bored. So Mary thought it couldn't hurt to have him work the front desk to keep him busy. Oh, he did keep himself busy. He rearranged the entire desk and all the supplies by color and now he was building a fortress out of towels, complete with ramparts and turrets.

There wasn't any rhyme or reason for Nathan to have walked into the tattoo shop today. He had enough tattoos to last him a lifetime but the art displayed out front had been intriguing. Some of it was grotesque but alluring (no, Nathan didn't know how that was possible) and some of it was beautifully moving.

The artist inside looked rough and tumble but once Nathan got over his initial shyness and hesitancy, he'd been more than welcome to open up about some of the designs. If the tattoo artist had noticed the tattoo on Nathan's neck, he hadn't said anything and Nathan didn't tell anything either. That wasn't art.

That had been torture.

The more and more he talked with the artist, the more interested Nathan became in getting something like this inked on his body, something he wanted and he chose. He didn't want to make the decision right now but he did ask if he could hang around, watch the artist work if anyone came in and maybe draw a few things for him.

He rubbed the tattoo on his wrist and started wandering quietly around, checking out various designs and occasionally commenting. But, it was mostly just quiet.

[Open, if you're in the tattoo shop, sure]

Of course Cosima had seen Cretaceous World on its opening weekend. What kind of retro dinosaur geek did you take her for?

And,just as inevitably, that lead to her spending her work shift arguing about the science on Reddit and trolling Tumblr for gifs from the movie. There weren't a lot yet, but she was going to reblog every single frame of Indominous Rex if it took her the rest of the day. And maybe even make some fanart to go with the gifs.

[OOC: Open shop, open post. Much love to Tatiana Maslany for telling us what Cosima's favorite movie is.]

Alana liked a lot of things about working at Book Haven. She liked the way crates of new books smelled, all fresh paper and promises. She liked the quiet of the shop as she tidied in the evenings. And she liked the chance to read dozens of books she never would have fond her way to without the job.

But today, Alana's very favorite thing about her job was that it was inside a real building, with walls and a ceiling and air conditioning. She could shut the door and be alone; she could put what was left of her morning smoothie into the fridge and not worry she was taking up somebody else's space, or that it would get stolen right out from under her.

After a few days in a yurt, all of that was bliss.
