wrongkindofsith: (Someone has to hold the wall up)

Cara had actually shown up for her shift for once. Largely because without any classes to teach she'd gotten bored.

She'd realise her mistake soon enough. Especially since Tino had taken the door off the storage closet.

Kanan was out practising in the park again today. Sort of. He'd taken Stance for a walk, and just happened to bring his broomstick lightsaber stand-in along with him, in case the pup had decided to run off and torment the flamingos or something.

'In case,' as if that wasn't basically exactly what was going to happen.

So he was stealing a few minutes while Stance terrorized the birds to attempt to remember what he could about the Ataru form. Master Billaba had trained him well enough in the defensive form Soresu to keep him alive through the war, but that meant that any more aggressive forms had fallen to the wayside pretty hard. And after eight... going on nine years without wielding a lightsaber for any significant purpose, muscle memory from Master Yoda's training sessions with the younglings wasn't exactly going to cut it.

After a good fifteen, twenty minutes of waving a stick around and feeling like an idiot, Kanan said to hell with it and just slid back into Soresu forms again. He wasn't going to magically dredge up something he didn't know without help, and it wasn't like he could just look it up on the HoloNet or anything.

He was still mostly convinced that this was stupid and he'd be better off doing target practice with his blaster, instead.

Having a desk in an office with a door that closed was still somewhat of a novelty in Liam's mind. Never mind that he actually left it open most of the time anyway. Not the point.

The terribleness of the coffee was about on par with the Embassy's, but Liam was more of a tea drinker anyway, so that didn't bother him too much.

He settled in at his desk and another day of attempting to sift through the backlog of incident reports.

He was up to "Bites, Gremlin" in the files. So. Progress? Kinda.

Jenkins had spent the better part of the week in his lab in the back of the store, performing every experiment he could think of on an old deck of tarot cards he'd found hidden under a false bottom in one of the office desk's drawers. They'd been wrapped carefully in an embroidered silk handkerchief — which he'd also tested, though near as he could tell the supposedly arcane symbology in the embroidery was merely washing instructions in an obscure ancient dialect — and then tucked into a lovely antique humidor that had no clear magical leanings whatsoever. It wasn't even pure silver, just plated pewter.

While it was, of course, impossible to prove a negative, by Friday morning Jenkins felt comfortable concluding that, despite their mysterious origins and careful hiding place, the cards were, in fact, not even remotely magic in any way at all.

Special! Half-off all card readings!
One day only!

Not that there was any reason for the customers to know that.

Hera had, at this point, mostly organized the junk yard. As much as one could organize massive piles of scrap. Now she was mostly just trying to see if she could sort the "obviously Earth stuff" by function.

And then some guy dropped by and dropped an entire hoverbus worth of scrap metal and circuitry in the middle of it.

When she was done telling him off (mostly politely), she sighed. "Come on, Chopper. Looks like we've got our work cut out for us."
