Furnado Animal Shelter, Tuesday

Zack was never quite sure about what to do when somebody brought in a pet that wasn't a dog or a cat (or, these days, a chicken), but he always tried to do the best he could for them once they were here.

It was just that sometimes, sometimes, the pets that came in were far too similar to other things that he was familiar with, and he couldn't quite wrap his head around how one might safely go about keeping them as pets in the first place.

So, yeah, he was side-eyeing the frog that somebody had surrendered pretty heavily. And the person who had surrendered it, too. The vet staff thought he had finally lost it when he refused to touch the thing, saying that he had too much work today and webbed fingers made that sort of thing difficult. They thought he was doubly crazy when he told them to cover their ears if it looked like the frog was going to start singing.

It took him much more of the day than he cared to admit before he realized that Earth frogs were way less interesting than the ones from the jungle out in Gongaga, where he'd grown up.

Someday this world was going to make sense to him. Someday.

Covent Garden Flowers, Tuesday

Had something been weird over the weekend? Nathan hadn't noticed. He'd spent his Saturday reading a good book, and his Sunday had been spent alternating between writing in his journal and trying to get a letter sent home to Taka and the kids.

So he couldn't help but feel a little bit as though he'd dodged a bullet when he came in to work today and found himself inundated with orders for bouquets with notes along the lines of "I'm sorry for the thing I did to you while I was somebody else on the weekend."

And maybe he was smirking to himself, just the tiniest bit, as he got to work putting together arrangements for other peoples' apologies. This was what schadenfreude was, wasn't it?

He'd take it.

Needful Things; Tuesday [07/18].

Today, the shop was going to wind up being incredibly clean...or, at the very least, certain spots of the store were going to be very clean, as Summer was extremely distract and wound up dusting and sweeping the same spots several times because she was too busy thinking about the fact that she had a date (kind of). A (kind of) date. With, like, fancy food and a cute guy. That had been won because of a dumb bet about a jello mold at a party, but, really, the details weren't important. There was going to be a date.

How she ever expected to get through a day at work before hand was beyond her, because she was pretty much convinced that another weird Fandom thing had to be going on that was making time move by at a glacial pace.

And then realized that the batteries in the clock had actually gone dead several hours ago. Whoops.

Groovy Tunes, Tuesday

Apparently the stereo had decided to make up for last week's 90s dude-fest by playing lots of heartfelt lady music.

Raven was digging it at first, but after awhile it just started to get ridiculous.

"I appreciate the effort," she told it. "But can you please at least pick another genre?"

Apparently not.
