When Miguel got to the diner, he blinked and nearly walked back out. There were cardboard ghosts and skeletons everywhere, bats hanging from the ceiling, and spiders sitting on the counters.

"Yes, I know Halloween is coming up," he said to the cook. "But we still have to able to work." He got a stubborn look in return, and sighed. "Look, just pull things up so they don't hit people's heads or get in the food, okay? You do the kitchen, I'll do the dining room."

If the spiders ended up perched jauntily in the corners on real spider webs, nobody had to know how.

Hera was actually a bit excited about this. Sure, she had all of back home and the island, but still, living on a planet and never getting to see the rest of it was a bit annoying.

They'd hired a van for the day, and she planned to make the most of the opportunity. There would be shopping at one of these "malls", and then a Halloween party.

She hoped some other folks wanted to join them, especially the others who wouldn't normally be able to get out, either.

There were gourds in the shop again. Seivarden had figured out that they were decorations for some local festival. She didn't care about the festival itself, but it seemed that carving the pumpkins into faces was a tradition, and as she could just as well do something to keep herself occupied, she found a knife and reached for one of them.

It hissed. Seivarden wasn't sure why, and she reached out again and picked it up, which made the pumpkin wail as if in pain. She put it down, frowning.

It turned out that all of the pumpkins cried out when picked up, which made carving a little awkward, as it might scare off costumers. Seivarden sighed and made tea instead.

This weekend wasn't as busy as last weekend had been. Or at least not as crowded - not at Mike's house nor for the island in general.

He was okay with that. Ish.

Look, it wasn't as if that one conversation with Brooke wasn't kind of stuck in his head. Stuck with him. Though some of his furniture work had done its best to keep him occupied and busy. But, tonight? He was back behind the bar at Caritas. Just chilling. And regaling Tino with stories of some of his past Halloween costumes.

"-- though I dunno man, the skirt on that one might've been a little too short."

Tino didn't look thrilled with this.
