Kanan walked into Luke's to find everything... fairly normal. A few disappointed looks from the kitchen staff at his relatively back to normal hair, maybe, but hell, that was better than a million other things they could be doing. They did insist on taking breaks today, much like they'd done on Mother's Day, to call their fathers, though.

And this time around they knew better than to ask Kanan if he needed to do the same, which he appreciated. He'd never had parents, only parent figures, after all, and none of those were around, anymore.

Today's Specials:
Dads Eat Half-Off Today!
Try the Pancakes!

Kanan decided that he wouldn't call anybody on the somewhat lazy specials today on account of the holiday. The cook thanked him by putting extra berries on his lunch pancakes. Win.

Sparkle was celebrating the holiday by sitting out in front of the clothing shop and chain-smoking, today.

Look, there weren't many days of the year when he felt so inclined. This was definitely one of them. Maybe he resented plenty of other holidays? But that was different.

He'd head inside if he had any customers, sure, especially since it was a week before Pride and maybe people wanted to get something parade-appropriate before the event, but this was his business and he'd already gone through the trouble of portalling here. He could sit outside and just kind of growl at the day in general if he wanted to.

He claimed one day a year to be pissy and snarly, and this one was it.

When Apu asked Amaya if she had anything special planned for her dad on Father's Day, he wasn't surprised that she didn't even know what Father's Day was. He was, however, a little surprised by her reaction when he explained it to her, which was a bark of a laugh.

"Yeah, right," she said, laughing some more as she thought about it further, imagined herself getting a present or a card or whatever else to show her appreciation and thanks to him just for being a dad. Sure, she could see herself doing that as a kid, but now? "If I tried to foist any of that feel-good mushy stuff on him," she explained, "I'm pretty sure he's straight-up disown me. We Blackstones aren't exactly a real fe..." She cleared her throat. "We're not too keen on feel..." She grimaced, gave it the ol' third-time's-a-charm. "We're not into the whole feelings," there it was! She got it!, "thing."

Still...they had their own ways of expressing things, so maybe Amaya was working on a letter back home in between customers, on that most disparaged the holiday as something silly, but with the underlying acknowledgement that it still made her think of him and she hoped he was doing well, written more like a business correspondence than a daughter to the only parent she'd had.

Jonothon, not one to particularly care one way or another about the holiday, was actually in a fairly decent mood today at work. There were people showing an actual interest in this year's Pride event, which shouldn't have been a surprise given last year's turnout, but Jono's brain would be Jono's brain except for in those situations where it wasn't quite, and if he wasn't second-guessing half of what he was accomplishing, who would he even be?

He was busying himself today by clicking around the internet, making a list of songs he ought to learn how to play, because he had a half-cocked idea to just play accompaniment to a sort of Pride karaoke stage at the picnic next Sunday. Or, at the very least, make certain he had the most likely karaoke tracks available to play at the event.

The interent was suggesting an awful lot of Broadway songs.

... So he supposed there was nothing for it but to learn how to play as many of them as he possibly could between now and next Sunday.

This was another holiday that Rey preferred to avoid, and for the most part she was.

However, this year she did sneak a few glances at the Portalocity app to see that her reservation for August was still there, it was real, it still hadn't been canceled. So if she wasn't exactly chipper today, she was at least feeling a little hopeful.

Hannibal preferred his own coffee, but every so often he did like to sit and simply people-watch, and that was more difficult from home.

So here he was, delighted to discover a rose tea latte he’d never tried before, tipping the barista well and commandeering a table by the window.

[Open post! I’m stuck at home with no power, so.]
