myownface: The rainbow Pride flag (Pride)
[personal profile] myownface
Thunderstorms on the mainland? Were there thunderstorms on the mainland? Because once again, the island had braced itself for a beautiful Pride weekend, and had gotten those thunderstorms out of the way early enough in the day that, when the sun came out to shine for the parade itself, it had also provided a beautiful rainbow, clear across the sky.

Regular meteorologial event with fortuitous timing, or Fandom being supportive? Who knew?

Like last year, the parade itself was to start on the Causeway, a good gathering point for Fandomites in the past, and a fairly central location on the island. From there it would follow Griffin Lane to Galactica Drive, Serendipity Place, Godiva Street, back onto Serendipity and following it until it turned into Loon and Loon turned into Chimera. Then one final turn onto Apocalypse before ending up at the Park, where people were welcome to sit and mingle to their hearts' content.

All in all, it was a lovely day for Fandom Island's second annual Pride parade!

All the flowers were all rainbow coloured and singing cheerful songs. If customers wanted something else, well, they were clearly out of luck. Seivarden wasn't too bothered, the songs could be worse, and the flowers didn't sing to badly.

The flowers didn't sing to badly. How had she gotten used to this place?

Anyway, she had tea. That was the important part.

[Open, although not during the parade.]

With the shop right there on the parade route, Amaya figured it'd be a good day to come in, keep the doors open, and step out to get a view of the proceeding when they passed by. And, of course, hopefully provide people with a few things they may have forgotten before they got started or needed after they were finished.

She wasn't really too sure she understood the whole thing all too well, if she was honest with herself, but one thing she'd learned in her time in this land so far was that people really like to celebrate things. Nothing wrong with that, even if she herself didn't quite feel like she was likely to.

So, there was a parade going on out there today. Reno wasn't going to attend, not because he didn't believe in it or anything. He was coming in to work today because if there was any day of the year that this place was liable to get a shitload of business without the island having to douse people in creepy pollen, this was probably the one. And, hey, he wasn't going to skip out on his shift on Kathy on what could potentially be the busiest day of the year.

There were a lot of flags out for sale today. And little bits of jewelry in rainbow colors, and some educational books and flat-out smut on display that were all pride-appropriate. Reno would get back to tormenting the shit out of Tseng next week. This week, he was kind of enjoying the ambiance, here.

[OOC: Open!]

When Miguel got in today, there were colors. Everywhere. Streamers in every color of the rainbow, plus brown and black, pink, light blue, lavender, and some colors he really had no idea what to name. Even with his sunglasses on, it was bright.

He wasn't going to complain about it all, but he was going to firmly fix things further up toward the ceiling so nobody walked into them.

The busboy cheerfully handed him a cup of a rainbow-layered drink. "Here's your coffee."

Miguel eyed it. "That is not coffee."

"It is! He insisted. "We got it from this really bright world."

Still eyeing him suspiciously, Miguel took a sip. Then he looked at the cup. That was actually...really good coffee. "Huh."

"See?" The busboy threw a handful of rainbow glitter over him.

"Hey!"

Today's Specials:
Rainbow layer cake
Rainbow salad with orange viniagrette
Rainbow coffee (don't ask, but it's good)

Luke's was open!

Miguel was covered in glitter. The busboy was stuck to the wall by webbing.
