Seivarden was going to assume that the birds in the shop were the ones Keyleth had received by mistake yesterday. That was why she spent the morning yelling at people on the phone and sending angry emails, because apparently she would have to wait until Monday.

"Aatr's tits, what am I going to do with them until then?" 

The birds themselves didn't seem bothered, and they were quite decorative perched on a branch in a small citrus tree.

Added to this, she received a few pictures to her phone that were more enjoyable but also more distracting, involving naked hands. At least she had a shop full of suitable motifs to send som in return.

And she had tea, obviously. That tea set really was an improvement.

Breq had bought some cookies yesterday, in case someone stopped by, and had placed them on a plate, and as soon as she turned her back to it the Silence dived at the plate, snagged a cookie, and disappeared.

That... was actually a good solution. This meant she could actually listen to things today. She had to remember to tell Tisarwat that the Silence could be bribed, should it show up during one of her shifts.

She picked up a guitar and sat down to strum along to the songs that the stereo was playing.

Nina said, upon walking into her bookshop and realizing that, like, the books and the magazines were facing off in what…………….. she peered at all the open pages. "Ohmygosh, like, you're all very fashionable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's no need to fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, like, either set up a runway and do this properly or get back on your shelves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

While the pages rustled as they decided what they were going to do, Nina hurried through the usual chores of getting the shop open before sitting down at the counter and, well, she should probably order more books but…

No, today she was going to watch as the books already here set up a runway, and she was also going to work on the gloves she'd promised Mae.

Miguel was in a reasonably good mood today. Which didn't mean he wasn't heading straight for the coffee, but it did mean he wasn't going to do more than roll his eyes at the cook and the busboy arguing the relative merits of shrimp versus crab.
