After sending a text to Summer-chan asking her to please remind him to not go to those weekly Wednesday things (to which she promptly responded with ohmygod i am not your secretary STOP), Shunsui was being distracted briefly from a nice nap at the counter by Apu-san touching up his National Eat Your Vegetables Day display, and ventured forward with a question.

"Apu-san?" he asked. "Which day is National Nap Day?"

He had to think about it for a moment, but then he came around with a confident answer. March 15th.

"Wrong ♥," said Shunsui, through a sleepy smile. "Every day is nap day ♥."

Especially days followed by sleepless nights filled which whispers of Sakuranosuke and shamisen strings.

Summer knew she was going to regret it, but after a few hours of dealing with Tino being exceptionally mopey and sighing dramatically all around the bar, she finally caved in and asked him what was the matter. And, sure enough, the answer made her roll her eyes practically into another dimension.

"Oh, come on," she said. "You can't honestly be upset that I didn't invite you to my birthday party. You don't even like me, Tino. And I didn't invite Kitty. I didn't invite Apu. I didn't invite the cheese panda. Get over yourself."

Tino murmured a response that made Summer question if there was a limit on how many times a person could roll her eyes in a single night.

"You are not going to make plans for a better party with Apu," she said. "You and Apu aren't friends. Stop trying to push that narrative."

Which only led to more brooding and sulking and Summer shaking her head, because she really should have known better than to have asked.

The beach, Wednesday morning

It was Wednesday, and Duke was in the usual yoga spot, with the beach blanket he usually used as a yoga mat laid out and everything. But Rey was off on a mission in her own universe, and while she might still get back to the island in time for yoga, Duke wasn't counting on it.

So instead of sitting on his mat and waiting for her, he was at the edge of the water, encouraging Octavia to come join him. There wasn't much by way of surf around here, the waves only really hitting as high as his thighs, and it'd be easy enough to wade out past the breakers. The Atlantic was still fairly cold this time of year, but the sun easily countered that.

It was, in short, a perfectly lovely morning for a swim.

With a piano to soon be delivered and a bookshelf ordered, Lucille had what she needed here. Those things, and the people she had met so far, couldn't chase away the loneliness though, as if a part of her had been permanently removed, which demanded her to adapt.

You couldn't save me. I was left to die alone.

Thomas had never spoken those words, but she could hear them in her head.

I couldn't. You were.

She felt nothing, which was probably for the best. Two ducks walked past her and she let herself imagine what it would feel like to wring their necks.
