Turtle & Canary; Wednesday [07/01].

Since it was Wednesday, Apu (or quite possibly not Apu at all and just the store) felt it could really go all out in the spirit of the holiday today, as evidenced by the garlands of red maple leaves strewn all about the store. The Squishy flavors were decidedly thematic, and there were specials on all-dressed chips, ketchup chips, Kraft peanut butter, and Puppers beer, all meticulously presented with the usual egregious displays.

Apu (or, really, likely the store itself) figured Summer would have had a nice rant about stereotypes and so on and so forth, but that Shunsui wouldn't even care (or, really, likely even notice), and he (or it) had been incredibly correct on at least one of those assumptions.

All Shunsui was wondering, in between naps interrupted by the frequent call of loons somewhere inexplicably over by the dairy cooler, was why he had a strange desire to see how sake tasted with a little maple syrup poured in.

Contrary to what some other narratives might suggest, Summer was absolutely not above using their neighbor-to-the-north's holiday for exploitive business opportunities, although she would definitely agree that the store had gone a little overboard with the efforts. Hers were much more subtle and, she felt, respectful, but, then again, she didn't exactly have to worry about the bar (usually) going to ridiculous lengths to play out a theme.

She just did it with jello.

And with mild interest for the loon that seemed to be attempting to join the zombie band that evening. It didn't really seem like a good match, but she could appreciate the effort.
