Seivarden was expecting her usual quiet day at the flower shop, when she got a call in the morning.

"You want flowers this afternoon? For a wedding? That's a bit last minute. Is this one of those, what are they called, shotgun weddings?"

"I didn't realise that could be considered an insult. So why are you getting married on this short notice? Did someone get pregnant by mistake?"

"Oh, it's romantic. That explains it. You know, in some places people just exchange pins when they want to be romantic. Are you sure you're not making a rash decision? Although I understand there are things like divorces, so I suppose you can change your mind if you realise it's a mistake. I've never figured this marriage thing out, isn't it supposed to involve..."

"Was that an insult too? Of course we can deliver flowers. I just think it's a bit odd..."

That was when the caller hung up. Seivarden sighed, then texted Lucifer:

You jinxed me. And you have to explain weddings properly to me at some point.

And then Tisarwat:

Have you figured out this marriage thing yet? Apparently it's both very romantic and a very sensitive issue when you get married on short notice.

This would have been good for business though.

Breq had decided to teach herself to play the guitar. She already knew how to play the bass at an elementary level, so it wasn't too hard to to get the basics, and she kept strumming along to whatever songs the stereo might be playing. Which turned out to be a playlist of beginner guitar songs, and it was being helpful enough to show the chords and tabs on the display. Breq decided that was encouragement.

"You're being very supportive today," she told it. "Just an observation."

Perhaps they would eventually get along.

"Thanks. I appreciate it."

Another Saturday at Pick Your Poison, and Lucille was keeping herself busy with writing neat signs in pen and ink, describing the ingredients of the products, adding to each note:

No harmful ingredients.

In case anyone was wondering. Lucille might not be used to fancy bath products, but she could get used to them, not that she had a bathtub where the water didn't run red and cold.half of the time.

Janet got to work today and Apu immediately presented her with a "Hello my name is" sticker.

"You're not cute," she told him, but took the sticker because she didn't want to know where it would end up if she didn't.
