Diego didn't know what he had done to deserve a smart ass cat following him around all day. Still, he wasn't too phased by it. For one, he had grown up with Pogo. Two, the cat wasn't actually bad company. She at least made the time doing paperwork go by fast.

Magnus rolled with his the fact that he had a new bear buddy with minimal confusion. Mostly because he loved him some His Dark Materials, but also to support his buddy Lin.

Which was why a bear of a man and an actual bear were now buying bear claws from the bakery and high-fiving each other. Because they both thought they were hilarious.

They were just unbearable.

Luke's Diner, Saturday

Last week had been a hell of a thing. But now Miguel was back, and he'd be damned if he wasn't going to work his shift today.

Even the smart-ass raven on his shoulder wasn't going to stop him. Fortunately, she didn't seem inclined to.

"Drink enough coffee for both of us, mijo." She gave a dismissive look to the busboy and his ferret and a beady-eyed stare to the cook's Newfoundland, which was wedged between the counters. "I'll keep an eye on things."

"Get feathers in my cup and I'll web your feet down," he grumped.

"Get coffee on my feathers and I'll claw your head," she offered back cheerfully.

Luke's was open, if more occupied than usual.

"Clearly," said the rat.

"Named 'Fallacy'."

The rat nodded.

"And you're a demon."

"Daemon."

"Did Lucifer send you?"

The rat facepalmed. Duke didn't know they could do that.

Was Jesse a little weirded out by the small, talking hawk? Yeah. But she'd gotten over that pretty quickly. She had bigger paperwork to deal with, courtesy of Barry, who was getting a terse fax with the words 'Thanks, Barry' scribbled on it in return.

Saiph was busy grooming, but occasionally she would look up, and blink thoughtfully.

"Are we done with the papers yet?"

"We are never going to be done with the papers," Jesse said ruefully.

"Your last job didn't have this many papers."

"You go with what you get, I guess."

As the day went on, it felt more and more like talking to herself, honestly.
