"I am definitely pushing for a raise for both of us," said Summer, upon arriving at the store a little later than she usually would on a Monday since she had to finish up a few things for Annie's birthday present, worried about getting all the work she had to do in preparation for leaving for a few days in addition to whatever attention the store needed after everything that had happened in the last week, only to discover that Apu had basically gone and took care of that latter part all his own yesterday. "But you especially, Apu. This is amazing, it's like nothing even happened at all."

To which Apu just sort of shrugged modestly. After being here for as long as he had, it really just became a natural part of the job.

There was, however, at least one point where they discussed the idea of making inflatable products either by special order only or under a sort of locked case, but, ultimately, it was decided that precautions like that around here was just a slippery slope because literally anything in the store could come to life violently at literally any moment, sooo...

Best just keep a good supply of useful weapons under the counter at all times, at this point, and maybe consider incorperating how to use them into the basic training for new hires.

Today's Squishy Flavors
Almond Joy
Bit-o-Honey
Red

Well, at least based on those flavor choices today, Summer knew at least the Squishy machine was still its normal, horrible self after everything...

Things were pretty much back to normal at Diaz & Associates, too, for the most part, although things never really got weird there in the first place. Basically, all that meant was that Rosa was back to being annoyed at her desk rather than annoyed at the island, glowering at her computer screen and looking about two seconds away from just pitching it out the window.

It should be noted, however, that this annoyance had nothing to do with her actual job. Things were pretty quiet at the moment on that front. No, all that annoyance at her computer was thanks to a series of group emails with her family trying to hash out actual plans for the holidays.

Honestly, if she could choose between dealing with this and still having to deal with that whacked-out weather machine or whatever it was over the past week...she'd go back to the whacked-out weather machine. Ugh.

Diaz & Ass. is open!

Annie was twenty-three today. And, yes, like a nerd (as Summer had so astutely observed), she was totally at work.

But, given that it was her birthday - not to mention that it was the Monday after a hell of a week last week - Annie felt like she could take some liberties. She dipped behind the bar to play with the blender and make a batch of (very strong, per usual) birthday pina coladas, then poured herself one and took it around to sit on a barstool and smile at Tiny.

"It's my birthday," she told him as she selected a fun straw and a cocktail umbrella. "I'll help you if it gets rowdy."

That would actually be kind of a great birthday present, if she got to break up a fight, though she really doubted anyone was going to be in the mood.

Was it weird that Beau thought this week was kind of boring, after the way everything had been escalating for the past couple of weeks? Actually, yeah, it kind of was. She'd own that.

She had Nugget with her at the gym today; he'd spent most of the last week in the apartment because Beau was not going to explain to Jester that the dog Jester had entrusted her with got taken out by semi-evil candy (which, knowing Jester, would really just be insult to injury) or blinked out to the Feywild. Because she'd been reading up on blink dogs so as to do a better job of training Nugget, and as it turned out that the blinking into and then out of another dimension was largely a defensive instinct, which was going to go a long way toward training him out of randomly appearing in people's space and all.

And, she was beginning to realize, teaching a fey puppy how to recognize what was actually threatening instead of just weird was a tall, tall order around this place, even if said fey puppy was as intelligent as any average member of a sapient species. (Though that did help a lot.)

So yeah, Nugget was bounding around the gym today, clearly very happy to be able to run around again, while Beau continued to point out what might actually be cause for alarm, what was just cause for some serious side-eye, and what was so normal around the island that it wasn't even worth blinking (ha) at.

"Okay, so I know that person in the neon yellow leggings is frightening, you're totally justified there -- wait, can you even see color? I don't think that got covered in anything I read so far. Anyway. She's loud and annoying and that outfit is some kind of horror, but I'm pretty sure it's not going to kill anyone..."

[OOC: Gym/post open for the inevitable high-level SP. No, I am not watching the clip of that one scene from last week's episode for the millionth time. Nope. Noooooope.]

Steve was still sore as hell but if he stayed in the apartment another hour, he was afraid he would be entirely made of Danny's matzo ball soup, so he was off to work. (At least until Danny noticed he'd jail broken.) He'd even remembered his Secret Santa gift (plopped into a gift bag because he'd pretend that he would've wrapped it if he had both arms, but he didn't lie to himself like that)!

He'd also dropped off smaller gifts for Diego and Liam because they deserved nice things, too. Or solar powered dancing hula girls for their desks because they'd come two for ten bucks. Nice things could also be cheap, right?

The Trooper Station was open, not running laps, and slightly high on pain meds. Come on in!

Seivarden hadn't exactly felt inspired to learn how to mix new drinks during last week, so the specials were mostly the same, apart from one that she had picked up the previous Monday.

Today's Specials

Margaritas
Gin & Tonic
Bottled beer

and

The Summer Smith

Tino gave the sign an unimpressed look.

"Yes, you get to pour the draft beer," Seivarden said.

The zombie band was playing, everything was as normal as things could be in Fandom.

Éponine had totally existed all this time was used to the last minute holiday rush, as long as she'd been working it by now. With only two delivery days left until Christmas, the line of delivery snails in the back room was getting very bored (and backed up), the turtles had a gridlock problem, and there was a bit of chaos since someone had actually been willing to pay the exorbitant postage fees and insurance for the giant roc shipping tier... and even signed the waiver stating that due to the nature of this particular delivery method, the sender had to acknowledge that they were using this rate at their own risk.

It was hectic in here this week, but in a fun and challenging kind of way that Éponine would honestly not trade for anything.

Some of the regulars kept bringing her tins of cookies and other nice treats, after all.

[OOC: I didn't forget she existed, I swear, it's just... yeah. Post/post office open, probably SP as usual...]
