Shunsui had become well acquainted with Apu-san's extensive lexicon of supposed holidays on any given day that felt like they were clearly made up, but this one not only seemed to take the cake, but it also seemed very specifically targeted.

"Work Harder Day?" he asked, the quirk of his eyebrow definitely doing its fair share of work in response to that. "Apu-san. I assure you, this is quite possibly the hardest I've ever worked in my entire life..."

That was, of course, not even remotely true, but Apu realized, from his experience with Shunsui, that actually...did seem difficult to contest. He looked dourly unconvinced, though, and so Shunsui sighed, rolled his eyes, and postulated, "If I agree to take care of the shipment that came in today, will that satify the parameters of your completely made up holiday, and then I can get back to working harder on perfecting my naps?"

It wasn't much, but it was something, so Apu aquesced, for now.

Until he realized that what Shunsui was really doing was simply working harder at avoiding that shipment.

Especially when he found out that this so-called Work Harder Day had actually been yesterday, but it was too late now to change the post, and what was time anyway, at the end of the day?

A few pizzas had been randomly delivered to the bar that evening, which was great, because who didn't love pizza to go with their jello shots? There was plenty of it, too, so Summer was quick to update her special's board:

Wednesday Specials!
Free Pizza with each Jello Shot!
Root Beer Barrel
Winter Berry Punch
Cottage Cheese and Salmon

And here she figured the idea of chasing a bite of pizza with a cottage cheese and salmon jello shot would be the most disgusting thing she'd encounter that day, until she turned around and discovered quite possibly the most horrific thing her poor eyes had ever seen.

Which was saying a lot, you guys!

"Tino," she said, slowly, with the reservation of someone who wasn't sure she really wanted an answer to the question she was about to ask, "what are you doing?"

"It's too hot," Tino explained, as he ran his slice of pizza under the stream of cold water in the sink, "so I'm cooling it down."

"...What. The hell...?"

"Right, so." Duke sipped from a mug, leaning casually against the teacher's desk at the front of the room. "Who all was randomly a kid this weekend?" He raised his free hand and looked around to see if anyone else did, too. "If you're new around here, that kind of shit just . . . happens. I've been a kid twice now. And a teenager once. And a woman for awhile. And a bird. . . ." He trailed off and shook his head. "Fandom seems pretty determined to fuck with your sense of self. I'm pretty sure it's for laughs, but uh. Hey. Maybe sometimes we can learn a little something about ourselves while we're at it."

He sipped his drink again, and tried to find some example to use from the weekend that wouldn't reveal too much of the inner workings of his life. He gave up with a shake of his head.

"Or maybe we don't. Anyway. Discussion time: if you were trying to put together a go-bag -- that's a bag of essentials that you can grab quickly in an emergency -- for Fandom, what would you put in it to help deal with half the population of the island suddenly being pre-pubescent? For those who aren't aware, Fandom actually handles the clothes on this one." He waved his free hand. "Discuss."

"I wasn't going to ask you about your weekend."

Tiny did not look convinced.

"What, it's not like I want you to ask about mine, either."

Now he just looked sort of unimpressed.

Octavia rolled her eyes. "Whatever, let's just go over how to make a Jack Rose again, okay."
